    passed in front of a stopped bus to try to cross a 3 lane avenue and due to negligence on my part, was hit by a buick regal. (don't know if the seat belt would have helped or strangled me) 2 minutes later climbed out of the car window. the other driver is fine, their car is slightly damaged on the left side. my car is totalled. cat scan said i'm ok. How do you put this behind you and move on without feeling really like a jerk.

    Wait a month or 2 for the scabs to fall off, soreness to leave, etc. If you got your bell rung good, for your mind to work normal.

    Plead guilty and accept the consequences. But consult a lawyer, especially if the other party starts getting grabby.

    File the insurance, take what they give you, if necessary make more money, buy another car.

    Wear your seat belt. Drive safely. Appreciate the dose of reality. You now have a higher awareness of how close disaster can be, and how possible it is for you to goof up, than those who have never been totalled.
