as i am riding along i realize that my passive attempts at suicide by not wearing a bike helmet could turn out worse than i thought. as the cars are flying by me i'm thinking to myself that i will never again ride without a helmet. so finally i reach the bakery. i go inside and pick from there selection of muffins. the lady who is waiting on me looks out at my bike and then looks me up and down (i'm wearing cut off men's dress pants and my favorite t-shirt that i got twelve years ago in the 4th grade), and then says... i'm not going to charge you for the muffin. she gives me a half-smile as i thank her and walk away. i love getting free things. yesterday i got a free beer and today a muffin. the gods are smiling on me this weekend. |
