    I did a private networking job for a "client", and sent him a bill for $500 after not having received payment for almost a month. I finally reached him on his cell phone, and he says "I'm really sorry about this, but I'm not going to be able to pay you. I lost a contract that I'd been depending on, and well, I don't even know how I'm going to pay my mortgage...". I told him that I would be forced to sue him in small claims court, and he says "That ain't neccesary! When I get the money together, I'll pay you!". This guy is a total coke head, and I had a bad feeling that this would happen...So I prepared. I installed VNC in startup on all the machines I worked on, and had no problem getting access today. I undid quite a lot of what I had done, and am confident that if he didn't have troubles before, he sure the fuck does now.

    But I wonder, if that would be viewed as legal. I'm not knockin' what you did - I'd do it if I was able - but I wonder how the action stands legally...

    It's just like taking back something that wasn't paid for, right? Like reposessing a car? Sort of? Or could you get nailed for tresspassing?
