10 years back I was given that offer,v can drive anything with an engine, yet I blew out the offer of a job in the Antartic, its something I will allways regret. So if you get the chance to do something amazing, just do it.

I thought of doing the Antarctica thing. Probably good, too. At the time I was much more prone to getting depressed from lack of sunlight, and that probably would've put me in the shithouse somethin' fierce.

ANTIGONEE, YOUR RIGHT, LACKING OF SUNLIGHT DO GIVES ME DEPRESSING, ESPECIALLY WHEN VOICE TALKING TO ME, IT'S SCARY

maybe you could get a summer gig, when it's daylight all day. you can take cruises to antartica, i think.

i think i know what a snow cat is - sort of wide, squat tractor thing. what would you have done? supply runs or something? maybe be a ferry service across the ice.

When I was young, I visited Yellowstone National Park in the middle of winter when the snow is often much deeper than I am tall. I rode a Snow Coach, which is a segmented caterpillar-looking thing for transporting people through extremely snowy places. I was fascinated with these machines and took every opportunity to talk to the driver. He told me I should come get a job driving them when I was older. This was my dream for many years.

Much later, when I was around 15, I went to Yellowstone on a cross-country skiing trip. We stayed in yurts buried under the 8 feet of snow. The young woman who ran things and normally broke trail had a cold and wasn't up to the task. I broke trail instead, having an inexhaustibe supply of energy back then. I had a great time, and I really liked the people who ran the camp. They told me I should come get a job just as soon as I was 18.

I might have tried to get a Winter job in Yellowstone instead of going straight to school, but the snow was feeble for a few years in a row around that time.
