i think i know what a snow cat is - sort of wide, squat tractor thing. what would you have done? supply runs or something? maybe be a ferry service across the ice. |
Much later, when I was around 15, I went to Yellowstone on a cross-country skiing trip. We stayed in yurts buried under the 8 feet of snow. The young woman who ran things and normally broke trail had a cold and wasn't up to the task. I broke trail instead, having an inexhaustibe supply of energy back then. I had a great time, and I really liked the people who ran the camp. They told me I should come get a job just as soon as I was 18. I might have tried to get a Winter job in Yellowstone instead of going straight to school, but the snow was feeble for a few years in a row around that time. |
