I think it's a bunch of crap. There are always Monday morning armchair quarterbacks second- guessing everything that happens, however, he does have one point, and that is the watering down of the word "hero", which has basically become meaningless anymore.

I thought it was crap too. I'm all for good critical speculation. But it just seems that he needed something to whine about.

I mean, not that anyone could have been prepared for something of this magnitude, but aren't city firefighters trained for something like stairway control in the event of a fire in a skyscraper? Or something?

I didn't read the link, but I do think that the word "hero" is thrown around too much in regards to the whole 9-11 episode (I can't think of a better word, I'm buzzing).

I know that it is part of a firefighters job and a policmans job to save lives, to help others survive a situation, maybe resulting in the loss of their own lives.

Whether or not it is your job, it is your choice. You could be a chickenshit and not do it. I do commend those who gave their lives to save other lives, and I do think of them as heros. Those who fought to the end to save others, and sacrificed themselves knowingly. They are heros. Those trying to get out themselves without secruring the others first, I consider chickenshits. The sad thing is that so many people died that no one will know the difference, so all are proclaimed heros.

I am rambling so I will shut up now.
