card this morning. they wanted me to verify a purchase: a $234 charge to a place called high point scientific. it's in new jersey; it specializes in telescopes. i called the fraud department at discovery and told them i hadn't made that purchase. they said there were a few others: some dollar charges to aol and at&t, and one to gap. i had them close the account. as i finished that last paragraph, i got a call from somebody from high point scientific. they didn't know about my fraud alert from discovery, but they thought my purchase looked "sketchy." my fort worth address matched, but the shipping address was to a guy named santos in san antonio. the purchase itself was made from mexico. it was for a binocular/camera. he said there's a fraud triangle. fraudulent purchases are made from mexico, shipped to someone in the u.s., and sold on ebay or someplace. i was a little disappointed. at first it seemed that at least the fraud was for something fairly noble like scientific curiosity. now it's just plain fraud. |

medical supplies. but i suppose there was one shady purchase i made that might have put my info into the wrong hands. it seems like it was caught in time. i hope it's over. |
I remember at the computer show, a guy had a credit card reader attached to the cellular phone, it was back in the late 90's. I won't trust this. Because anyone who know how to use Linux knows better than that. |
