to sleep at 4:38am because sleep escapes me. I am failing to write because my thoughts won't sit still & stop wandering to places they have no business going. I am listening to 'Blues & the Abstract Truth' because Oliver Nelson or Coltrane usually calm me yet I am failing to be calm. I am sleepless in Sarasota -- the sleepiest city in America at this hour when you cannot buy a book or a cup of darjeeling. NY is cold now but at least it is open 24/7. I am failing to make sense of this day of these feelings of my life... It has been a long night. It will be an ever longer day. |
