i just now found out Chuck Jones died. without Tex Avery, Mel Blanc, and him, the american animated cartoon is now officially dead as far as i'm concerned.

i just found out that another comedic genius died: spike milligan. he was an irishman who had a radio show in britain in the 50's called "the goon show." he brought the world an anarchic, surrealistic type of comedy that eventually influenced the creation of monty python. he also wrote books (hitler: my part in his downfall) and poems.

at an award ceremony, he called the prince charles, who was presenting the award, a "groveling little bastard" on live tv.
