pamela on Sunday, December 29, 2002 - 12:15 am:

Okay, this is definitely not the first time, and I'm sure it won't be the last...

I've been pretty much without a home of my own for the last 4 months. We sold our house that we had owned for 3 years and made a whopping $80,000 in the deal. Best investment I've made in my short little life. Anyway, the reason for the move is b/c my hubby got the chance to transfer with a hefty raise, so we took it (we just had our second {and last} child, and we wanted to be able to pay off all of our debt and get on the positive side again). We're finally in our new place now and I am so glad to not be staying with my mother anymore. That was pretty much 4 months of hell.

Anyway, the reason I need help is b/c my sorabji.com email is not working anymore. Seeing as I haven't used it for at least the last four months (b/c my computer was locked away in storage), it doesn't surprise me. Does anyone know if anything was changed or is it possible it was deleted since it was not checked for so long?

By J on Monday, December 30, 2002 - 10:03 am:

I'd ask Mark if I were you.Another baby? Wham bam thank you Pam:) Another boy or a girl? Details..

By pamela on Monday, December 30, 2002 - 06:37 pm:

    She's a little girl :)

Her name is Bianca, and although Nate with disagree, she's adorable. I have pictures of her up at www.theplowmans.com/photos. Ethan got big. I have pictures of him up at that site as well. He's a cutie.

I was induced two weeks prior to my estimated due date because I was measuring 4 inches bigger than I should and they did an ultrasound to confirm fetal weight and she was supposed to be 9 lbs already at 38 weeks. She was born 7lbs 11oz. Didn't surprise me though. They told me Ethan was going to be the same weight but I carried him to term and he was 7lbs 14 oz. I'm okay with small though. Makes it easier on me :).

We're living in Squaw Valley, CA now (the city, not the ski resort), which is about 33 miles East of Fresno. It's in the "foothills", but looks and feels more like the "mountains". It's very calm and peaceful here. I love it. There are some pictures of the house at the same place as the kids. It's a pretty cool house. Anyway, I think I'm settled now. I won't be working, just staying home and raising kids, and working on my crafts and stuff. Hopefully now I'll have time to get back on the boards.

How are things with you J?

By J on Thursday, January 2, 2003 - 02:24 am:

Same old shit here Pam always somrthing stressing me,but I'm still standing:) And I just know this year will be better,it just has to.Congrats on Bianca, love the name, and girls are so much fun to dress.

By pamela on Thursday, January 2, 2003 - 01:39 pm:

I've been having lots of fun dressing her. This time I feel so much more prepared for a baby. I feel a lot calmer this time. It's very nice. I'm sure Bianca is going to end up giving me lots of trouble, but I am going to enjoy this peace while I can.

By the way, Mark fixed my email :)

    Thanks Mark!

By J on Friday, January 3, 2003 - 02:26 pm:

I think both your kids are little dolls and I love your new house:) And Mark rocks.

By pamela on Friday, January 3, 2003 - 10:55 pm:

This house is so cool. It would be so perfect for a little sorabji get-together. Living here is like being on a permanent vacation. It was perfect for Christmas. The first floor's walls are made of stone bound by concrete. The corner fireplace is made with the same stone and is in fact built into the wall. Once the house is heated up, it takes like two or three days for it to go cold again, because the fire from the fireplace heats up the walls. So, right now, while it's really, really cold outside, we just keep a little fire going, and it's nice and cozy inside. Two things that really suck about the house:

1.) The kitchen is pretty small, and there is barely any counter space. Also, the cabinets space is not very usable either.

2.) Our internet connection is dial-up right now, and we're connecting at 26400 usually. It's pretty awful going from high-speed cable internet access to this. We're probably going to get Satellite internet access, if I can fit it into our budget.

This is the perfect house for parties. Lots of room and out in the boonies so that you won't have to worry about bothering your neighbors.

So when are you coming over J? ;-)

By J on Saturday, January 4, 2003 - 10:12 am:

I'm sleeping on a mattress on the floor, and am useing a card table and plastic lawn chairs at my mother's townhouse, while I'm remodeling my own house,so your really tempting me cause it's shit city here:) Where I live you can only have a fire in your fireplace every other day, if your address is an even # you have it on a even day,odd address odd day. It's going to be 78 degrees tomorrow,so we rarely use it.

By pamela on Saturday, January 4, 2003 - 03:20 pm:

Anytime you need to get away, my house will always be open to you.

And you will definitely feel away up here.

By wisper on Monday, January 6, 2003 - 06:24 pm:

    uhm, J?
    what's with that fireplace rule?

    (that house sounds sweet, P!)

By patrick on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 11:45 am:

i would guess because of the fire concern.

    its dry in the desert.

we've had fire issues here in the last few days because of prevailing desert conditions..ultra low humidity, high winds. a small fire can grow rapidly when its do so dry and windy.

on another semi-related note we dropped Adelphia cable because they are crooked motherfucks and raised our rates to fish their ass out of bankruptcy so we got Direct TV for the same price. there is a special right now that is letting me watch all the hockey from around the country and canada and for the first time im watching canadian tv. is tim horton your president or something?

By pamela on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 01:20 pm:

Patrick, so far, do you like Direct TV? We're thinking about getting it.

By Nate on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 01:22 pm:

    it's dry in the desert.

but it probably has something to do with pollution.

By pamela on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 01:44 pm:

I think Nate is right b/c I have some friends who live in Reno, NV and any new houses built can not even be built with a fireplace b/c of the pollution. Or something like that.

By patrick on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 02:24 pm:

uh its alright i guess. i have another remote control now. just what i need, another god damn remote control. i can do with out the box and another remote control but they gave me one. other than that its ok i guess.

i also have hot porn at my fingertips for inflated prices.

By trace on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 02:29 pm:

patrick, how close to the mojave are you?

By patrick on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 02:39 pm:

never been there...at least not the town but I would guess about 2 1/2 hours.

By trace on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 04:44 pm:

    what desert then?
I used to live in Apple Valley, right on the rim of the Mojave, and I really wanted a r/c so I could run it on the desert floor, but could not find one I wanted that I could afford

By patrick on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 05:07 pm:

    what desert what?

If you are asking what desert im referring to when I say "desert conditions"...well its a general reference and is used as the winds come from the north and east, which is where the high desert (mojave) is and they mimic desert environments.

what is an "r/c" ran on the desert floor?

if you didnt realize it....the mojave is higher in elevation than LA. its strange to think about. people always think of deserts as low lying.

By wisper on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 05:46 pm:

canadian tv is sweet. Note how we allow swearing, and sometimes full nudity. Don't watch Air Farce, no matter what!!!!

Tim Horton was a hockey player. His only legacy is the donut/coffee shop chain that bears his name for some reason.
There are more Tim Horton's locations here than schools or hospitals. For real. No other donut chain can compete with them, even Starbucks is getting buried. They are an institution, like McDonalds, but warm and friendly. I live within 5 minutes walk to 3 of them, so does everyone else.

By patrick on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 05:54 pm:

im only watchin hockey at this point. havent noticed swearing or nudity yet but certainly welcome the possibility of seein some tits and ass motherfucker.

in america, our tv is shiny and glittery. your adverts look like our cable/public access tv.

there was some retarded ad for some childrens cough syrup or something like that. i swear a high school av class here in hollywood could do better.

of course this was an Edmonton Oilers game so it was that particular market, which aint huge.

i just pictured fat guys in flannel in a la z boy, 17 feet of snow outside drinkin LaBatts wtching the same tv i was watching from a 1000 miles away.

By eri on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 - 08:35 pm:

There are two deserts near to you Patrick, both parts of the mojave. One is called the high desert (where we were) just north of San Bernadino and on the way to Vegas. The other is called the low desert, where Palm Springs is.

R/C is a remote control car. Boys and their toys.

Have you been getting a lot of Santa Ana winds? Usually they are the only things that create the desert like weather down there. They are nice and warm, but in the desert we only get them during the summer to raise the temps into the 11x's.

I sold Dish Network and Primestar for a while when we were in Cali. Hated it. The job sucked horribly. In the high desert you can't get local channels on it and you can't get them with antenna either. No point in it. Might as well stick to their crappy ass cable.

By J on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 - 09:51 am:

Nate's right the every other day fireplace deal is for pollution control.I have Dish TV at my regular home and I love it,you can be watching a program and rewind it,it's real easy to record things you want to see in advance.

By Bigkevin on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 - 10:39 am:

Tim horton's is named after the original co-owner, TIM HORTON (the hockey player).
THey are everywhere because they are a quality product. And cause us canadians consume more donuts per capita then the rest of the world (or is that because there are so many shops?)

Speaking for the frozen north btw. in Calgary Ab. (a little south of Edmonton) the last few days have been a blissful 15 deg. C, which in farenheit is ???, Although winter is coming soon.

As for Canadian TV, yes it is mostly low-end, but theres no money in it so no-one really does much. The largest Broadcastor/creator of original programing is a gov. corp. (read; CORUPT!!!)

But more about my peaceful land later

By semillama on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 - 12:44 pm:

They are every where here in Columbus because Wendy's bought them out.

i haven't been to one in a long time.

By Czarina on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 - 03:45 pm:

I've been drinking Tim Hortons cocoa. And his coffee, too. A gift from Toronto.

But they didn't send me any doughnuts.
I didn't know he made them.

    Now I'm pissed.

By wisper on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 - 07:36 pm:

they have high quality stuff for damn cheap. Everybody loves Tim Horton's.
You can't go 10 minutes driving without passing one. Since they've managed to plant themselves on every highway exit in the nation. I could go for an apple fritter and an ice capp right now.

The cough syrup commercial you saw (patrick) is probably part of the series for Buckley's Mix. They're supposed to look crappy. ;)
Do you watch Don Cherry too? Fuck, i hate that man. And his fucking radio commercials.

By patrick on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 - 07:45 pm:

Don Cherry .....is he a sports announcer? His name is somewhat familiar but I may be thinking of the jazz musician. No, I havent seen the sports announcer.

By semillama on Thursday, January 9, 2003 - 09:18 am:

Don Cherry is like unto a GOD of Hockey Night in Canada.

By Canuck fan on Friday, January 10, 2003 - 02:10 pm:

    a loud mouthed over-opinionated boor.
just like you americans, (just kidding)

By pamela on Saturday, September 18, 2004 - 05:10 am:

And just like clockwork, I'm having trouble with my email again... I can't remember what my password is but I've tried all the possibilities. Has sorabji.com email changed at all within the last year or two? Lord knows I have...

By Gee on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 - 10:20 am:

Tim Horton's has betrayed us all.

I'm devoting the rest of my coffee-drinking life to the Second Cup.

By wisper on Wednesday, September 22, 2004 - 07:44 pm:

fuck second cup! they have no apple fritters.
    No fritters of any kind.

By Gee on Thursday, September 23, 2004 - 01:31 pm:

but they have the orange-tangerine fruizi, which tastes just like an orange creamsicle! there's no beating that.

By wisper on Friday, September 24, 2004 - 06:07 pm:

    i don't like creamsicles.
Second Cup is way over priced, so nuts to you!

I love No Frills, though. I wish they were the 24hr store instead of stupid Dominion.

By Gee on Monday, September 27, 2004 - 11:32 am:

    you're crazy!! Dominion rocks!

    you're crazy!!!!

By wisper on Monday, September 27, 2004 - 07:02 pm:

If by 'rocks' you mean 'overprices', then yes they do.
but I'm a No Name whore, always have been. I dig that simplicity.
And No Frills plays way cooler music. And they make you pay for bags, which i like.

your 4 exclamation marks make me giggle. ;)

I'd also like to mention that for years i couldn't see the 'D' in the Dominion logo. I see it as a 'G'.
Same with the Walt Disney logo, actually.

    guess what I'm listening to?!
    ----
my baby takes the morning train!
he works from 9 to 5 and then!
    he takes another home again!
to find me waiting for him!
    ---
I wanna know what the hell the chick in that song does all goddamn day. But that's just me.

By dave. on Monday, September 27, 2004 - 07:50 pm:

she grooms her pubes for her baby.

By agatha on Monday, September 27, 2004 - 11:18 pm:

Note: no advice for Pamela and her sorabji email. Rather, discussion of doughnuts and coffee. Sorabji-style, dig.

By Sye on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 - 01:13 pm:

    wisper-
thank you thank you thank you,
from the very depths of my heart,
from the greatest reaches of the earth
from the deepest caverns of the ocean

FOR GETTING THAT SONG STUCK IN MY HEAD!

    enjoy your day

By J on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 - 02:48 pm:

Hey,it beats hearing a chorus of "he's an asshole" day in and day out:)

By wisper on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 - 06:06 pm:

    Sye-

    you're welcome.
    it could be worse.

    love,
    wisper

By Gee on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 - 10:36 am:

I find that I almost always have The Muppets theme song stuck in my head. It used to be the theme song to The Brady Bunch, but for some reason it is not The Muppets.

I don't know why. Just about every single day, for no reason I can see, I will start humming The Muppets. Do-Do-Do-DoDo-DoDo.

has anyone ever had a song stuck in their head for longer than a week or so? Because it's seriously been every day for several months, and the Brady Bunch was a few years.

By Sye on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 - 11:19 am:

I have had this song stuck in my head since I was about 16...

Sometimes I feel I've got to
    (duh duh)
    Run away I've got to
    (duh duh)
Get away from the pain you drive into the heart of me...

I love it. I especially love it when I hear it other places, like when Danny DeVito did Phoebe's bachelor party on Friends. Nice...

By heather on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 - 11:50 am:

i just saw a muppet cover band

    it was super

By wisper on Wednesday, September 29, 2004 - 06:10 pm:

i don't know about it being stuck in my head, but whenever i start whistling to fill time or out of boredom, it's always ALWAYS the melody for "Alouette". Just the first line.

    You know-
    Alouette, gentille Alouette
    Alouette, je te plumerai

I've done this for as long as i can remember.
    It's a good little tune.

(you have no idea how long it took me to get the title spelled right. I've forgotten how to spell anything in french so I had to put the english lyrics into Babblefish and google them. "Pluck the feathers from your head, Pluck the feathers from your mouth...." etc. Dang.)
