This also means you must be able to prove that you can pay for the lawyer to sue for custody rights and prove you can pay child support, so you must make sure you have and maintain a decent paying job and have your rent and all utilities current and show that they have been current for 6 months or more, or the judge will find you unfit (learned this through a family experience). If the reason that the ex is paying child support is because he has "adopted" this child and they court sees it as his child, then that would mean at one point or another you have lost your parental rights to the child and if that is the case, give up. But whatever you do, learn to present yourself as someone who has at least a high school education. |
