    if anyone's out there...

    something strange is going on with my mozilla thunderbird mail server. everytime i call the box up, it adds to the number of messages it thinks it has. i have cleared out all of the old messages in the inbox, but at the moment the box in the corner reads 1242 messages. even after restarting my computer. i've tried compacting, but for nought. anybody know what the hell i should do? all it really does is slow the time it takes for the mail box to come up, but it's still annoying.
