I watched and listened to a majority of State of the Union address. Did you? Does anyone care?

His economic recovery plans vague and meaningless.

His war-mongering rhetoric to be most aggressive.

His chemical, biological and nuclear claims against Iran, Iraq and N.Korea as hypocritical as ever.

Why is N.Korea or Iran anymore of a terrorist than we are?

Why is no one asking the right questions?

    It can be frustrating.

I find the whole traditional process of the State of the Union address to be fascinating but my god, It seems Mr Bush brough the content of the State of the Union address to an all time low, did he not?

eh, im preaching to an empty choir

I can't stand the constant applause and standing ovations after every sentence. It becomes nothing more than a succession of sound bites rather than a speech. As far as content goes, it was exactly what I expected from him. The other thing I can't stand (which I believe Reagan started) are the sappy references to "Bobby Sue out in the heartland, raisin' her kids as a single mother, trying to make ends meet..." or "Billy Jean, whose eulogy at her husband's funeral was, 'Semper Fi'". I fell asleep half way through, but that was because I had 3 hours of sleep the night before, not necessarily because of the speech.

yeah the applause does get tiresome...BUT i love how they do the introduction. It must be a tremendous event for any one other than a gov't official, especially non-american to attend. I wondered if Mr. Karzai felt this way? Its hard to say. On one hand I wonder if that guy doesnt feel like a tool. On the other hand, Its gratifying hearing him speak, knowing the ashes he's risen from.

I suppose im just irate Bush making threats to country's like Iran and North Korea, whom I consider no threat at all and whom I consider we've MADE a threat out of by our rhetoric and sabre rattling.

the hypocricy, the double standards and sabre rattling just get me. we should be taking the high road and as far as Im concerned we are behaving no better or no more moralistic than gov'ts those we criticize.

This "war on terrorism" shit is just an excuse to expand our big stick and thats fucking scary. Its only making more enemies and serving to isolate the us.

Bush is ineffect making the world more dangerous.

Actually you rarely get any substance from the State Of The Union speech no matter who is making it.

Democrat or Republican it makes no difference. The details are always delivered later. It has turned into a political show and that is all.

I must agree on one thing with Dougie, I don't care for the side show antics with the celebrities of the moment in the audiance. I don't care who started it. It's getting very old very fast.

Anyone hear anything about during the Contra hearings when they were questioning Oliver North about spending $60 thousand dollars for a home security system,he said he needed one to protect his family because he had been threatened by the most evil person on the planet, when asked who it was he said Bin-laden and the senator who asked him that laughed at him. That senator was Al Gore.
