You have to work out what the letters mean. See No 0 as an example.
According to MENSA, if you get 23 of these, you are a "genius".

If you'd like, send me an email, and I will send you the excel spreadsheet with the embedded formula that will let you know if it is correct or not...

By Antigone on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 02:11 pm:

    #30 is a typo...It should be "9 P in the S S"

By patrick on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 02:15 pm:

right off the bat i got about 10.

does that put me in the retard column?

By Antigone on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 02:28 pm:

By this test, British Christian sports fans are geniuses more often than any other demographic. Three questions refer to the bible, one to rugby, one to cricket, one to football (soccer), one to the currency of an obscure former British colony, one to a sport invented in Scotland, one to an odd form of English baker's measurement, and one to an old Beatrix Potter nursery rhyme.

Even without the cultural advantage, though, I got 20 right.

By spunky on Thursday, July 25, 2002 - 08:38 pm:

    Damn Antigone.....
That was circulated around the Crypto folks for "fun and relaxation" today.

I think i got the obvious 10, but it was during a break at work....

By heather on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 12:52 am:

    i aint's a genius, but

according to me i got 24

of course i have no idea if they're right

    (i did wonder about #30)

By . on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 12:54 am:

    answers please

By Dougie on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 08:55 am:

Ok, here you go dotman, but I could only get a few:

1: 26 Linebackers of the Apocalypse

6: 52 Cocks in a Pussy (Women Jammers)

    8: 18 Honkies on a Golf Course

    10: 5 Tines on a Fork

13: 32 is the Temperature in Dijon France at which Women Fart

    18: 12 Menstruations in a Year

30: 9 Peruvians in South America

I find it strange that Mensa should put out a puzzle with such cryptic answers, but that's ok.

By semillama on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 10:42 am:

I got 23. I liked the last one the best.

    And I agree with Antigone.

This test is pop culture for upper class british
    twits.

By Dougie on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 10:50 am:

What is the last one, Sem? All I could come up with was 15 Mules on a Demented Mule Cart, which probably ain't right. I feel so stupid and worthless.

By Antigone on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 01:29 pm:

    15 Men on a Dead Man's Chest

    Obscure pirate saying.

Is this a test of intelligence? Methinks not.

By Antigone on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 01:50 pm:

This "test" makes the common mistake of several Mensa riddles: correlating knowledge with intelligence. It's assumed that smart people will know lots of stuff. The problem is that the stuff it's assumed smart people will know is always biased: biased by cultural factors and by people's individual interests. Why would I ever know how many players there are in a rugby team? I don't care how many books there are in the bible. I've never learned those facts (and many others tested for) because they're not in my societally directed or self directed sphere of knowledge.

So, if you didn't do well on this test, don't worry. It's not a test of general intelligence. It's just a self esteem enhancer for ivory tower types.

3 Bowel Movements (Shit Happens, Tit Rooster)

By Spider on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 02:07 pm:

I thought it was 16 men on a dead man's chest. Could the Mensa test be (*gasp*) in error?

I know my IQ. I could be in Mensa....if I wanted to. :Þ

By Dougie on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 02:40 pm:

I know my IQ too. I could be a restroom attendant at Mensa headquarters and hand out towels to all the smart guys after they take pees and wash their hands...if I wanted to.

By Nate on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 03:15 pm:

i know my iq too. well, i did at one point. i can't remember it.

hey dougie, what's happening in your life at the moment? i notice you go through 'funny guy' cycles.

By Spider on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 03:36 pm:

I noticed that, too....maybe he gets hit on the head every few months.

By J on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 03:40 pm:

Dougie is always a funny guy.

By Dougie on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 03:53 pm:

Eh, not much Nate and Spider. No, no hits on the head or anything. Having fun with the new house, but bored out of my skull here at work. Just waiting for that new job offer to pop. Some days I get in a rhythm and I feel like posting here til my fingers bleed from typing, other days, I have no interest whatsoever in posting, or have nothing to say. I'm sure 99.9% of you guys think I'm an unfunny obnoxious boor, but I amuse myself nonetheless. Plus, I was always a smart aleck in class growing up, so it's not like it's a stretch for me or anything.

    Thanks, J. You're a sweetheart.

By patrick on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 04:04 pm:

somedays i stink more than others.

    like today.

    im a salt lick.

dougie did you ever get your ass in a sling with your smart-assed mouth? fat lip?

you seem smart enough to know when to run.

By Dougie on Friday, July 26, 2002 - 07:04 pm:

Oh yeah, Patrick, I've had my share of run-ins. Learned my lessons well though.

By Andy on Thursday, August 12, 2004 - 01:06 pm:

I got 32 right. I didn't get the cricket one right, or the dead man's chest right. And number 30 isn't a typo. It's not referring to the solar system, it's South Africa. Fun though, kept me busy at work.

By Pyroneus on Wednesday, March 22, 2006 - 03:48 pm:

I got all of them right, the one about chromosomes took me the longest.

Antigone: number 6 is (Without Jokers) ..
