I'm in Idaho Falls - the immediate area is small rolling hills and farmland, bordered by foorhills to the east. It's kinda high desert-ish, but a bit greener. An hour east, and you're in Targhee Nat'l forest and some beautiful mountains. Targhee pass is several miles of 10% grade road. Lotsa fun in the winter if you want to drive to the top to go back-country snowboarding.
South is desert, more desert, and then, Utah.
West is high desert, then lava flows. Much further west is mountains with some high desert mixed in.
North is forests and Southern Montana.

The town is kinda blah, but it's really close to some killer outdoor recreation.
