I am going to go sign a lease in an hour for a new apartment. It's going to cost me about $200 more a month, but I just got a raise not long ago, and I am due for another one in a couple months.

its a 2 bedroom condo, hardwood floors, A/C, full basement, garage, walking distance to my office. big. nice.

I don't know how I am going to move though - maybe my new landlord will let me move in a little early (like the weekend before Thanksgiving). I need to figure that out today so I can enlist help in moving and rent a truck for the big stuff. Then i have to call my old landlord and tell him when I will be out - I don't want to pay for another month there if I don't have to.

    Just do me a favor.
Whomever you get to help, don't just sit on your ass and watch them work. It tends to piss them off.....

That's a shitty thing to do. I plan on assisting with all the heavy stuff myself. If i get to move in early, which it looks like I will now, I will probably move all the samll stuff myself then have the guys come help. If I plan it right, i might be able to get moved before thanksgiving, which would be great, because then I would actually have room for my family to eat in in my home.

    Did i mention hardwood floors?
It also has a nice mellow cream paint and a small front porch even!

That sounds fabulous. Is it much bigger than your current place?

By trace on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 - 10:55 am:

A friend of ours did that to me.
She sat and bitched, (she is almost as strong as I am) while myself, her girl friend and another guy and her son moved the stuff out. I understand she was stressed out, but damn....
I still have not figured out how in the hell I cut myself carrying a TV....

Sound awesome. Eri and I are starting to look at houses, especially since the feds cut interest rates again.

If we could get a fixed rate....

the slow pack begins for me too.

    right on sem. enjoy.

i too, am going from carpet, back to brand spankin new hardwoods.

im thankful everything in my house fits in the elevator, even my queen size bed. this is bonus. one crew up, one down. streamline my move to where it takes about 2 hours. everything in a box. the only beast is the recently aquired sleeper sofa. those mugs are heavy.

beer and greasy pizza for all who help.

By semillama on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 - 12:32 pm:

my new place will be about 1 and 1/2 times bigger at least. the bedrooms will be about the same size.

but it has a full basement. What the hell am I going to do with a basement?

    I should trick it out.

By J on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 - 12:36 pm:

I'm in the process of having new tile through out my house, new kitchen counter tops, stone around the fire place and a jacuzi tub in my bathroom,we took out a loan or we will on the 25th of this month because the day we went to the credit union the rate went down again but the credit union doesn't reflect that till the 25th.At some point we might have to stay in my mom's townhouse,I get so stressed about this.I finally realized that I'm not moving to another country,I'll visit, but I'm keeping my house. It sounds really nice Sem,I miss front porches, you have to go in my back yard to get to my front door.

By patrick on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 - 01:06 pm:

recording studio sem. is it surrounded by earth? if so, you practically have sound proofing. Im so glad I have a garage now. I can finally set up my traps and jump back onto them.

Hell between the garage and its sideroom/darkroom, im practically gonna live outback.

By semillama on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 - 02:24 pm:

I was think studio too. put down some cheap carpet, and such. Ask the neighbors about floods first though.

By Antigone on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 - 09:12 pm:

    Basement?

    Server room!

At least, that's what I'd do with it.

By Platypus on Wednesday, November 13, 2002 - 11:27 pm:

when are you moving, patrick? i can never resist beer and greasy (vegan) pizza.

I'm moving to a very wierd house. It will be my flat, but it's not laid out at all logically. It's deeply confusing. I'm getting really tired of moving, I hope this is it for a few years.

By kazoo on Thursday, November 14, 2002 - 09:27 am:

I think he should grow weed in the basement.

By Platypus on Thursday, November 14, 2002 - 09:43 am:

The lesbians were growing weed in my basement before my landlord moved in. They also filmed an apparently fairly well known lesbian porn movie here, although I don't know what it was. I don't think I really want to go to the video store and start renting piles and piles of lesbian porn just to find out, either.

By patrick on Thursday, November 14, 2002 - 11:35 am:

that would be too risky these days, to grow weed. if his power bill looked slightly off, under the Patriot Act and Homeland Security they can bust his ass with far more ease than before.

Nov 30th is the move in date. to insist on vegan pizza.....well, you hippy, we'll just order some bread and water for you.

By kazoo on Thursday, November 14, 2002 - 11:55 am:

well, yes I realize this...I still think it's a good IDEA

By sarah on Thursday, November 14, 2002 - 12:04 pm:

how is it that you live in dallas and have a basement, antigone?

By Antigone on Thursday, November 14, 2002 - 12:45 pm:

I don't have a basement. I wish there were houses with basements here. Sigh.

I do have a nifty 2 foot high crawlspace under the house, though. I've wired my place with ethernet cables by shimmying down there in the dirt.
