    It's that time of year again when all of our daughters clothes seem too damned small. Hayley is fine, having plenty of clothes in the larger sizes to fit her. Micki is a completely different story. Her height is normal for her age, but she is so skinny that she can wear 6-9 month clothes around the waist. She desperately needs some pants to wear, but if I buy a 2T then they are too short and a 3T is so big around it just falls off of her tiny hips. So I have resigned myself to making her pants. Now I am in a quandry. The T3 pattern calls for a 13" inseam, and when I took her measurement she was exactly 13" in the inseam. I am afraid that they will end up being too short on her just like everything else she owns. If I do the T4 size pattern then it is a 14 1/2" inseam and I am afraid they will drag on the floor. I am stressing over something stupid, I know, but I need advice.

    make the T3 a little long, 1/2 to 1 inch.

    That is what I did. For the rest of the pattern I cut it at the T2 line because she is so skinny and then I just kept cutting length a little farther down past T3. The length is perfect but they are still so baggy on her that they look like little strawberry covered MC Hammer pants. I guess I am going to have to adjust the rest of the pattern to the T1 size. This is insane. Even if I do make it to the T1 pattern, they are still going to be baggy as hell on her skinny ass. I need to learn how to design my own patterns so I can figure out a way to make it the average of 6-9 mo. around with T3/4 length and not make the ankles too skinny to fit her little feet in. Too bad they don't have a college course on designing patterns for abnormally skinny toddlers.

    OK I have a stupid question for anyone that sews. What is the average normal stitch length supposed to be set at? My machine kept freezing up, like the tension was too tight and I thought maybe it was because the stitch size was set too small, so I turned it down and the problem went away. I am just wondering what it should be set at. I am thinking that 2 1/2 or 3 is normal but I am not sure.
