hey, that's EXACTLY what an earthquake is like.

i remember back in '89. i was playing jump man on my 286 when all the sudden the CRT started jiggling.

nothing else, mind you. just the computer screen.

back in '89, i'd just finished sucking down a bottle of monte alban and was chewing on the worm when the whole world started shaking like mad and the freeway in front of me collapsed in a clap of thunder and a billow of smoke.

took me a second to realize it was all just happening on tv and that there really wasn't a major earthquake ripping up my dorm lounge.

mezcal will do that to you.

my friend paula moved to san diego a few years ago. she said that californians made up that whole myth that one day california would have a giant earthquake and break off into the ocean just to keep the weenies away.

i was in an earthquake here in '94 i think. well, the epicenter was in hilo, on the big island. i was living in a highrise townhouse. we had 6 guys living above us at the time. we would frequently wake up to their puke drying in the hot sun on our lanai. when the quake hit and my mattress was shaking at like 4 a.m. i just thought it was the boys partying.
