    1. Where is Spider? How is Spider's school going? Is she enjoying Boston?
    2. How are Sem and Kazu, post-wedding? Are they officially living together full time? How's all of that going?
    3. Where the hell is Nate?
    4. Where the hell is Patrick?
    5. How is PJBoy recovering? Is he okay? Will he ever take another turn in scrabble?
    6. I could add the usual crap about Swine, Margret, Sheila, etc; but you know they won't answer anyhow so what's the point, right?

By platypus on Sunday, September 16, 2007 - 03:31 pm:

    7. Furthermore, why is there an accordion band in front of my house?

By Antigone on Monday, September 17, 2007 - 02:59 am:

I see Nate logged into IM all the time. I never chat him up, 'cause all I'd say is, "You're a fucker."

    Over...and over...

By semillama on Monday, September 17, 2007 - 01:09 pm:

Sem and Kazu are quite fine, post-wedding. We are living together full time and still trying to get our house set up - it's a challenge trying to figure out how to fit the accumulated stuff of two people in their 30s in a somewhat small space. Ok, it's not that small, but it's still tricky for some things.

Such as, we have to get a rack for our bathroom so we can put our towels away. And we need to figure out a solution for our CDs, which collectively I wouldn't be surprised to find out we have a couple thousand. I solved the DVD storage by utilizing empty space on our entertainment center.

We also still need to put the nice shower curtain we got as a wedding gift, and we are trying to find a pair of those plastic adirondack style porch chairs for our porch.

Kazu has a part-time job as a canvasser, which has her working til 10pm three days a week, but the extra money coming in plus the fact she's making friends here in Columbus makes it worth while.

We are heading back out to Massachusetts this week to attend a cousin's wedding reception, so it will be my first visit back out there as an "in-law" - should be fun!

I don't know where Nate is. I'd like to know where Patrick was when he took all those tropical island pictures on his flickr page, though.

By Antigone on Monday, September 17, 2007 - 02:24 pm:

d00d, rip them CD's to a hard drive. You can store them in a box. They'll actually last a lot longer that way. Apple's iTunes is great for that and you don't need a mac. (I use iTunes on a PC and play all of my audio (300+ cd's) to an apple TV. Works like a champ.)

By wisper on Monday, September 17, 2007 - 03:12 pm:

but then you wouldn't have all the art + books :(

By droopy on Monday, September 17, 2007 - 09:49 pm:

    1. spider has finally met a man who stirs her passion deeply. she currently involved in a mad, passionate love affair. sooner or later she might show up on these boards to tell us that she's getting married and will be honeymooning in italy.

    2. sem has spoken. it's not like they'd disappeared.

    3. i see nate occasionally on the wayd board. he spends much of his days sitting in a dark room drinking wine and watching a large console of 15 televisions, each one running different programs like news, sports, talk, etc. he is coming to the conclusion that every one in the world is an idiot except him.

    4. patrick currently works for the yiddish pornographer fayschul kumschotz.

    5. i actually worry about pjboy.

    6. swine is the lifetime president of a small island nation in the carribean. margret works part time as a dominatrix. sheila lives in a cave in a mountain.

    7. i sent that accordian band to platy's house. it's a south texas band called the kolache consortium; i sent them there to play "pickled egg polka" for her.

By platypus on Monday, September 17, 2007 - 10:05 pm:

Was that what it was? They only spoke Hungarian, so I think they garbled the title. They also didn't bring any pickled eggs.

Also, iTunes will cripple your music once you rip it, which is not so awesome. Use a program like Winamp instead if you want more flexibility with your media.

By jack on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 - 12:02 am:

jack is listening to junior parker, hoping droopy's speaking truth about spider, toasting the host here, and saying hello to everyone in this thread. sem & kazu are in ohio?

jack is disappearing again now. see you next year, maybe. you all stay true.

By Bruce on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 - 01:26 am:

Bruce is talking to you on #mindvox.

By Antigone on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 - 02:47 am:

That's only if you rip to AAC, platy. MP3 should be fine, methinks. But I have all of my stuff ripped to FLAC and I periodically melt it down to 192kbps mp3, so I have no idea, really...

By Dr Pepper on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 - 03:48 am:

As for me, all of my old bills, those paper are clutter and I can't stand anymore of these papers spilling all over, so I had it scanned then stored it to cd discs. once it is stored , then I shredded all of the old bills and papers, all i had to do is neatly stored all of cd's contain numberous of pictured that I scanned old bills in to a shoe box. took me two weeks to finished that.

By droopy on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 - 03:49 am:

i don't know if it's the truth, jack. but it might be.

    Happiness
    --by Carl Sandburg

I asked professors who teach the meaning of life to tell me what is happiness.
And I went to famous executives who boss the work of thousands of men.
They all shook their heads and gave me a smile as though I was trying to fool with them.
And then one Sunday afternoon I wandered out along the Desplaines river.
And I saw a crowd of Hungarians under the trees with their women and children and a keg of beer and an accordian.

happiness is a pack of accordian-wielding hungarians, platypus.

By agatha on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 - 12:28 pm:

That's a good poem, Droopy. Also, thank you for fabricating stories about our mostly departed sorabjiites. I find the spider one particularly believable.

By agatha on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 - 12:29 pm:

Kazu, are you completely done with school now? What are you thinking about Columbus so far?

By kazu on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 - 01:04 pm:

I am working on my dissertation. I have to be finished by the end of next summer because my adviser is going on sabbatical.

Columbus is fine, albeit a little too cold. I got so accustomed to Atlanta weather that you'd think I never lived in New England.

By sarah on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 - 02:50 pm:

nate's 15 televisions are broadcasting different genres of porn.

    24. When is autumn ever going to get here?

By heather on Friday, September 21, 2007 - 01:29 am:

autumn is here, come to san francisco

By platypus on Friday, September 21, 2007 - 02:08 am:

Autumn is to the North as well, so you might as well come here too.

    25. Does anyone have a good recipe for chai?

    26. What's in your pockets?

By Dr Pepper on Friday, September 21, 2007 - 01:59 pm:

I don't like autumn. because when it come to earth tilting little away from sun, it is lacking a daylight. I get depressed when it comes to lacking a sunlight, and I get moody when it comes to a gray cloudy. it is sad.

By Dr Pepper on Friday, September 21, 2007 - 02:02 pm:

Heather, I prefer Dallas. I was there last febuary getting enough daylight . I was happy being down there.

By droopy on Friday, September 21, 2007 - 03:03 pm:

every so often, you achieve a strangely haunting kind of poetry, dr. pepper.

normally, i like autumn. though, right now, i'm wishing it was spring. a couple of days ago i had a bowl of pho that came with generous amounts of fresh cilantro and mint. i think they grow it themselves. i discovered that i love the combination of cilantro and mint; so much so that, were it spring, i would probably be planting mint and cilantro in my backyard right now.

By heather on Friday, September 21, 2007 - 10:31 pm:

that was not even close to my question though

By Antigone on Saturday, September 22, 2007 - 12:01 am:

Droop, if I ever make it over to cowtown again we're eating that that place. I can't find a good bowl of pho in this burg, even at the restaurants that smell like sewage.

By Dr Pepper on Saturday, September 22, 2007 - 12:37 am:

    lmao!

By droopy on Saturday, September 22, 2007 - 01:25 am:

it's a place called phú lâm, antigone. it's actually in haltom city, but not that far from downtown fort worth. i understand that scientists at BRIT (botanical research instute of texas) like to eat there, so that might tell you something.

By JusMiceElf on Saturday, September 22, 2007 - 09:59 pm:

I'm dropping back in for a moment--watching the Sox while my
wife sits upstairs with our not-sleeping daughter.

She (the wife) is currently cooking another one, due in November,
and I'm in the midst of a career change, on my way to becoming a
    preschool teacher.

Good to see some familiar faces still here.

By agatha on Sunday, September 23, 2007 - 02:53 pm:

DEWD! How nice to hear from you. Sounds like things are going well. Are you getting your master's in teaching, or just transitioning into the job, or...? How old is your daughter now?

By Dr Pepper on Sunday, September 23, 2007 - 03:17 pm:

Droopy, I remeber there was a korean shop with the sign that said "government ungraded meat" in which they eat meat, in which we do not eat like their, I mean, we eat chicken, they don't, they eat dogs. Ugggh.

By JusMiceElf on Sunday, September 23, 2007 - 06:14 pm:

    Agatha,

Not going for the master's yet. I only need one course to
become an assistant teacher. Once I'm working, I'll think about
getting a degree and becoming a lead teacher. For now, it's just
subbing; I'm going to want to take some time off when the
    Sibling arrives in November.

    Sophie's almost two and a half now. She's a lot of fun--loves
crafts, plays pirate with me around the house, and has an
    incredible imagination.

What's up on your end. I remember something about libraries?
And your daughter must be--what, ten now?

By droopy on Monday, September 24, 2007 - 02:08 am:

there a sign like that at the meat counter of my favorite supermarket, dr. pepper. not because they sell dog meat; it just means it's the standard or commercial grades (like "store brand" cuts) of beef, pork, chicken, etc. i know they eat dog meat in parts of asia but, assuming the shop you're talking about was in the u.s., it's doubtful they sold dog meat. i'm not even sure it's still legal in south korea, anymore.

JusMiceElf - i don't know if you're aware that your handle is suggestive of sly and the family stone, but you've go "family affair" playing in my head.

By Antigone on Monday, September 24, 2007 - 03:24 am:

In highschool a friend of mine's parents owned a Vietnamese restaurant. She would waitress there, and would flatly deny to let me order two items off them menu. (#24 and #25) She wouldn't even tell me what they were.

By agatha on Monday, September 24, 2007 - 04:00 pm:

Yep, I got my MLS and am now working as a reference librarian at my local public library. It's interesting, to say the least. I really like it. Cleo is THIRTEEN. I know!

Are you still in Northampton, or Amherst, or somewhere around there? For the record, I really like the name Sophie.

By Dr Pepper on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 - 05:04 am:

droopy, what i was talking about is, there is aisan community just somewhere near downtown dallas. this is the reason why, I noticed the vietnamese had the rooster in front yard as their pet.
