i took a while to come up with that one. I couldn't figure out whether best meant the one i liked the most or the one i thought was the greastest fictional achievement. A philosophical discussio ofr another day I guess. Garcia Marquez is a giant among storytellers and this one made me gasp at the last line. Out loud.

It's incredibly satisfing and slightly intimidating to have the book you're currently reading listed on the "Best book you've ever read" board.

As an added bonus, It's also the recommendation of a good friend. If I don't relish every word, I'm sure our relationship will never recover and I'll be forced to spend my lonely nights posting to sorabji.com to fill the void. Damn... I think I'm going to stop reading.

it has been a few years. but now that you've reminded me, i am going to read it again. today if possible. if not possible today, then very soon.

This fucking book is fucking suck and boring the only reason I read it was because my fucking stupid ass teacher told us to fucking read the motherfucking book. To everybody out there don't waste your hard earn fucking money on this piece of shit. I personally rather buy a porno magaize and ready then jerk off to it now that's fun. and if you go ahead and ready you are a fucking fool and you all can suck my big fucking dick.

I just finished Garcia Marquez's "Of Love and Other Demons." A little girl is bit by a rabid dog and (after some tanglements) is brought to an abbey to be exorcised, and the priest who is appointed her exorcist falls in love with her. The back of the book described their relationship as "chaste [and] ill-fated," and this is what made me read it. I loved it. "Love in the Time of Cholera" sits on my desk and it will be the next thing I read.

i read of love and other demons twice. i really enjoyed it.

i think i read love in the time of cholera, but i can't remember. i haven't read all his books.

i either read love in the time of cholera, or that's the title i always put to of love and other demons when i talk about it.

Uh...isn't that like saying Shakespeare is full of clichès?

By TBone on Tuesday, January 20, 2004 - 12:06 pm:

It's like when I first saw Casablanca, and thought it was corny because Bogart kept using all those burned-out lines like, "Here's looking at you, kid."
