Certainly Social Code by Cass Tell is the best contemporary book I've read, relevant for so many people who use the Internet, which is just about all of us, but ok, maybe not the best book of all time. Because of its fast pace and minimilist style, on the surface it doesn't seem to be for literary readers, but then the hidden themes start to emerge: people's motives for using the Internet, of Internet addiction, of cults, and how virtual communities are created and controlled. And Social Code does it with a simple, down-to-earth, non-pretentious style.
