every now and then you want the action. Geronimo is a novel about the famous Apache who invented parachutes. The author calls him a war shaman which beats a vacuum cleaner salesman any day. I like the apache view of reality as revealed by the authors imagination and I hope a little bit of research or at least an affair with the reference librarian. Geronimo is a cross between the shadow and rambo. He actually lives in a shadow world where good intentions and bad press reign supreme. the only dead indian is a good indian or something like that is the white devils way portrayed in this one sided native american view of the american west (not that there is anything wrong with that). Forrest Carter died decades ago. nevertheless a few years ago, the spectacle jumped on a negative press opportunity when his book the outlaw josey wales was made into a movie and another novel, the education of little tree was awarded the good literature seal of approval. I think it was something about a KKK connection and/or evidence that he was not really a native american. I'm wondering if the Geronimo video I saw at Photographics was based on this book. Good story and I'm really in the mood for an action flick with a message. |
