two GREAT books. The first is about the devil and human faith...it's so true it makes me laugh. By C.S.Lewis (yes, the narnia guy)
The second is just plain beautifull, about a perfume apprentice who goes crazy and lives in a cave for 7 years just to avoid humans, who he hates. (that's a severely dumbed down plot line, by the way. It's actually really deep but I don't have enough typing space. READ IT!!!) "scentless apprentice" by Nirvana is about that book.
READ THEM READ THEM READ THEM READ THEM!
they are both short, intellegent and wonderful.

Yes, "Perfume!" It IS the best book ever! It changes your life! It makes you go around smelling people, trying to figure out what their individual scent would be if you could boil them down and collect their extracts. The ending is fabulous, though a bit shocking (not because of its content, but because when you get to it, it kind of slaps you between the eyes and makes you think "What the...hell.. just.. happened?") Great!

Strangely, there is a Nirvana song, called "Scentless Apprentice," that's based on this book. If you read the lyrics (since you can't make out a damn word he says), you'll see for yourself.
