    this was one of those times when i just wandered
    around the shelves of the library until something
    caught my eye. it was a novel by japanese writer
    kobo abe: "secret rendezvous." to be honest, one of
    the things that attracted me was that it was small
    and easy to carry. the other thing was that it
    wasn't "western." i wanted to go to japan for a
    while.

    this was one weird japan. comical-kafka with a lot
    of psycho-sexual stuff.
