Listening to Gentlemen. So sexy and sad at the same time. Great rainy day music. Greg Dulli is insane, but his band is cool. Their music is one of the many influences on how I appoach song-writing.

Their music also sounds like Dulli is the type to cut himself for fun.

I saw the Whigs about 10 years ago here in
Cincinnati. They were playing Sudsy's and
they were pretty big locally but not on the
national scene yet. I remember they closed with
"Helter Skelter". You are right, that Dulli
    guy is insane.

You have excellent taste, Semillama! I have had to buy Gentlemen twice because I wore out my first copy. I must have listened to it at least 500 times, and that's probably a conservative estimate. I was fifteen when I first bought it, and let me just say, it changed the way I thought about music forever.

"Debonair": oh my god! Is there anything more menacing than that opening guitar? Or the line "tonight I go to hell for what I've done to you"? No! It was knee-trembling! Somehow, they made self-inflicted pain sound so sadistic and threatening and enticing.
Alternative Press recently ranked Gentlemen 14th in the 90 greatest albums of all time. They said, "It is without the darkest album of the '90s...Greg Dulli and his boys struck a universal nerve, carving out a pained, vengeful landmark of romantic holocaust..."Gentlemen" is a map to the bombed-out wasteland of a broken heart -- and it bleeds brilliantly" (AP #125, p.57). Oh, so true!

My first band covered "Be sweet". I'd like to cover more Whigs, but there's no way my bassist now could play that good.

I just finished listening to fIREHOSE, "flyin' the flannel". It's sunny today, so, sunny music today. Probably some reggae and chili peppers.

IF you like dark sounding music, try Godflesh's "selfless." It sounds like a hollow soul. It's a little harder to comprehend at first, but I totally love the reverbed- out vocals over the complete crushing, vibrating guitars and growling bass. The cover art for that album compliments the music perfectly: a human nerve cell growing on a microchip.

Damn, I'm not getting anything done this morning, am I?

Twilight Singers Tour (Mar/April 04') Dates (ON SALE NOW)

Dates listed at the end of the page...

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is Going to be a Really Small US Tour in Small Clubs.

Twilight Singers is the band from former Afghan Whigs frontman (Greg
Dulli). Greg is also the other twin in the upcoming project The
    Gutter Twins with Mark Lanegan.

Twilight Singers do a really great show for the cost of the ticket
which is cheaper than the CD. I have seen them several times and they
always play over 2 hours and do Afghan Whigs songs at the Shows!
They rock as much as the Afghan Whigs with the same singer.
