Jaco

wow. by sheer coincidence i'm listening to the jaco pastorius album. "okonkole y trompa" is playing. i remember when i was first messing around on bass i ran across this guitar player magazine that had an interview with jaco. i remember that after i finished it that i thought he must be a genius and that there is no greater thing a human can do than to play bass. or at least to play music. a few years later i was living in this little room behind someone's garage and all i had was this little portable radio. i was listening to a jazz show that used to come on then and they said he had died. they played his music all night and i listened and smoked cigarettes. if you got a story, you don't ask if anyone wants to hear it. believe me.
