    really incredible album. the silk road project has something to do with traveling around and finding artists. i haven't read up on it, it is just what i've been told.

    there are some crazy musicians on this one.

    I just got that myself. It truly is awesome. I like how in the liner notes they illustrate what each instrument looks like. I like the morin khur.

    My mom owns a duduk. (A double reed instrument listed on the Silk Road website that sounds like a quietly dying duck.) She bought it, along with another instrument called a "zirnah," when we went to Armenia in 1985. If you want to hear some really cool duduk music get the "Gladiator" soundtrack.

    I am listening to Debussy's "La Mer" and it's pretty damn fantastic. This disc also has Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an exhibition" and Ravel's "Bolero" on it.

    I went to the Silk Road festival in DC last year! I'll have to find that album.
