    I bought this tape for $2 in an Indian grocery. Thought I'd broaden my cultural horizon. Best $2 I ever spent.

    Suraiya was this Indian film goddess from the 50's best as I have been able to tell.
    The entire parliament was reported to be humming her songs...

    From the picture on the cassette, she was one hot babe.

    Her voice is in a somewhat lower register than the keening of most indian gal singers you usually hear. But full of those trills and seductive little rivulets... a mixture of innocence and sensuality with these haunting melodies... irresistible...

    Great Indian cheesy 50's film orchestra schmaltz too.

    the only English word on the whole cassette: "vacation"

    I'd give anything to be able to sing like that.

    I'd give half of anything just to know what the words are she sings...

    I'd love to rent one of her movies, if I could ever get the VCR hooked up.
