From pop to rock, jazz to classical, NYC has inspired & produced more composers than any other city in the world. The Big Apple literally means hub of media/music. The term surfaced during the '30s, among black musicians, who regarded NYC as the ultimate place to perform: "There are so many apples on the tree, but to play New York City is to play the Big Time...the Big Apple!"

From Radio City Music Hall & The World famous Rockettes to Carnegie Hall, from MSG (Madison Square Garden - world's most famous concert & sports venue) to Lincoln Center, from Simon & Garfunkel (sweet Jewish NYers) to George & Ira Gershwin (b. Gershowitz, sweet Jewish NYers), from the birthplace and home to MTV studios & TRL to VMAs at Radio City, from the former home to the Grammy Awards to the Rock 'n' Roll HOF induction ceremony at the famous Waldorf Astoria Hotel, from the Beatles at Shea to the Beatles on Ed Sullivan (studio is now home to Late Show With David Letterman), from Woodstock (world's most famous rock concert) to CBGB (birthplace of punk - ala The Ramones, sweet Joey Ramone (b. Jeffery Hyman, NYC) was recently honored with his own NYC street name, from Studio 54 (world's most famous disco, now home to Broadway's "Cabaret") to The Cotton Club (formerly), from the world's most listened to oldies station (WCBS FM - home to the only living DJ who has a street named after him - Cousin Brucie (Morrow) Way (b. Meyerowitz, sweet Jewish NYer) in Manhattan, NY has always been center stage for the world's greatest musicians, musical events & venues.
