A few weeks ago, a friend of mine mentioned starting a a ukulele country band. I immediately jumped on it, wanting to sing some harmonies but leery of having to learn another instrument. I've shown up to practices with an autoharp, a piccolo and tap shoes only to be told "you need a ukulele" "you need a ukulele."

But today I finally asked a friend if she'd be home so I could pick up the uke she said I could borrow before practice. She said yes. I picked it up and played it. And I can sing! Somehow I can't play keys or piano and sing, but a uke, no problem. Of course I'm getting the hang of really simple chords right now, but still....

    Eeeeeeeeee!

What would you like to hear played on a ukulele? I can try and play it.

I love singing Smells like Teen Spirit at karaoke, so adding the uke shouldn't be too hard for me. There's a great version played by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain.

for a hot minute. i got strumming and singing, kindof, then had to drop out of the band and give my uke back to the friend who lent it.

though another friend lent me his accordion...

So droopy, how have you been? Is everything alright? I was worried about you the most of times and thought you never came back. Glad to have you back here again.

    thank you, doc.

Broke my femur in three places late last
September. Had to have it put back together with
screws and wire. Spent about 3 weeks in
hospital/rehab. Had my ukulele with me the whole
    time (except for surgery).

My 72 year old father got it into his head that he
was going to give his current wife, my sister and
me an iPad. This is why I'm suddenly back online.
I'm on someone's discarded computer right now.

I've always wanted to learn how to play the
    concertina.
