Just your average Saturday full of cleaning out my bedroom, rearranging things throughout the house, getting my new computer and desk set up...That is until I decided to take a break and picked up the latest edition of The Stranger (those of you who live in Seattle or nearby know which paper that is) and flip through it. When I got to the movie section I noticed an ad for a one time showing of an old 70's movie. I read a little further and saw that it was in fact a 70's porno and in 3D no less! Well, there's no way I was going to pass up the chance to see that. So, I told my boyfriend about it and was also talking online to a friend of mine at the time, & let him know. It wasn't showing til midnight and so we dropped by my friend's work, picked him up, went to Chang's Mongolian Grill & had dinner beforehand. We arrived at the Egyptian theatre about an hour and a half early, but the doors were still closed and there was no one around. So, we drove to Tower Records and bought a couple CD's and killed some time. We drove back past the theatre and there was still about an hour - 45 minutes before it was to start, however there was now a huge line bending all the way around the building. We dropped my friend off so he could save our place in line and my boyfriend and I parked the car. (Woo, parking in Seattle. Always an adventure.) We went and bought tickets and then went to find my friend in line. Ended up standing outside in the wind/rain for about 20 minutes before they opened the doors to let people inside. I knew it would be a popular showing, but even with the size of the theatre (used to be an old play house... beautifully painted & carved designs everywhere) they ended up selling out fast and having to turn a bunch of people lookin to see some good ol fashioned 3D porn, away. Heh. :) Well, lemme just say that if it hadn't been for the audience participation & side comments, I think I would have been scarred for life. First of all, I can honestly say that was my first "porn massive" I mean, sure I've seen a couple before with a few friends, but I have never been to a jampacked theatre and watched a porn with hundreds of strangers. The 3D effects were definitely a big disappointment, and I think only once or twice did it feel like 3D. (Like when the dildo came slowly closer and closer at you.. that was frightening.) But I kept a couple pair of the glasses for amusement at a later date. It was rather humorous to look around the theatre at all the faces w/blue-red glasses on, staring at the porn on the screen. And man, lemme just say this, people in the 70's were HAIRY. The music, as always was great. I want a CD of 70's porn music. Think they make it? I love sitting there laughing at how they try their hardest to a) ACT & b) incorporate any kind of plot into the thing. It all just comes back around to one thing... they're being chased, trying to escape the killer who's right on their tail -- Hey, I know! Let's get naked and screw on the kitchen table! *cue supahfly music* And never needed to HEAR those sound effects in Dolby/THX surround sound either. Oh the humanity of it all! So yes, needless to say it was quite an evening. Made sure to sit as far away from the lone strange looking men with coats over their laps. Everyone was walking out of the theatre either laughing their asses off or uncomfortably leaving as though it were the 'morning after' and there's that guilt of 'should I wake them up or leave a note?' (Yeah, you all know what I'm talking about. ;p ) Good time had by all.
