I understood almost the whole thing. The only thing I didn't get was near the end, when Byrne asked the dead priest spirit to take him instead of whatsername, and the dead priest spirit said no, you have to believe, you have to have faith, and Byrnie had doubts. But whatsername was an athiest, so...how did that happen? Maybe it had something to do with that whole "the curch is inside you etc, etc, all around you" thing. You think she could have believed way down deep inside and not even know it? |

I have major things for both Patricia Arquette and Gabriel Byrne, so it was redeemed. My last sentence contained the same level of christian mysticism, btw, that that sucky assed piece of shit did. What the fuck is wrong with fucking Hollywood that they can lure me in with a delightful premise (which Stigmata had) and then use their indubitably magnificent cinematography to fuck the shit out of it? I was so incredibly pissed after the tedious jumpfuzzradicut when the second set of stigmata appeared that I could not contain my anger and it has now spilled all over you two. Sorry. I mean, I dig the whole church wherever concept and shit, but it's shitty and lame to tack on text like that at the end of the movie. The possession by demon/dead priest issue was not especially well addressed, either. The seeming conspiracy being located in the physical body of a single priest also weakened the Church as Naughty thematic, also. Fuck all this. Go read "The Name of the Rose." Then see the fucking movie. Then see stigmata again. Then realize that you have been previously aesthetically bankrupt. What the fuck is wrong with writing out a screenplay, and then filming a good movie, anyway? |

i wait for everything to come out on video. besides, (with the exception of the blairbitch horror) whenever i plan on going to see movies with anyone, we always end up knocking back drinks and shooting the shit in some dive bar instead. thanks for reminding me about Umberto Eco. i need to reread that book. |

I liked Stigmata. You're right about the One Bad Priest being a sucky cop-out, Margret, but everything else about it, I really enjoyed. |

and I always pack my flask w/jack to the theaters, |
blairwitch project dunwich horror blairwitch project i always end up mangling those two together. i was talking to an ex co-worker who told me that the blairbitch etch-a-sketch was actually based on an old jersey tale about a baby-eating devil that stalks the marshlands. i think i'll round up some of the sunset park boys and head into the jersey wilderness to see if we can find any demon trails. or baby remains. or low-budget/high-payoff marketing strategies... |

the bible in their own words if not in almost the exact same words. Can you not interperate things on your own? Do you not know right from wrong? If you answers are no go to church. If your answer is yes then what do you need church for, because GOD is in your life whether you are in church or not. Why do (I believe catholics) go to confession just to tell some man\woman things they've done and ask for forgiveness. What does he\she have to do with forgiving you for your sins- is'nt that GOD's job-can't you talk to him your self? Do you need an interpertor? I think it is pointless. Talk to him yourself just don't make the same mistake twice if this is possible. I can go on and on but it time for me to get some sleep....... |
