I got to see this czech film that I guess there are only a few copies available in the entire world and it was three hours long and it was one of those dream - epic flicks that totally pull you in and spit you out a different person. I love the Harvard Film Archive!!! The woman who played Marketa was so f**king beautiful! I have never ever been so enthralled with a woman on screen (not even from Porn!) Has anyone ever even heard of this movie?

no. marketa lazarova is the czechest name I've ever heard. I think it's ok to say "fucking" here. one time I went to the only film studio in czech republic, barrandov in prague, to help a friend look for a halloween costume. we lied about our intentions and got to choose from among decades of beautiful communist epic dresses. it felt wrong and wonderful.

I am glad it is OK to say fucking here. So what did you end up taking from the film studio? I have no idea what I am going to be for Halloween this year. And I have no access to Czech dresses.

my friend got a big puffy satin dress. I don't know what time period it was supposed to have been from, nor what commie musical it was shown in. I just remember how sad and beautiful it was, walking through aisles full of big dusty costumes, while old dumpy babichky followed us, making sure we didn't try to stuff one in our backpacks or something.

so how did you steal the dresses? Why do you think game shows are interesting? I have been raiding the payphone list for months now and I found the board last Sunday - I think you are all pretty interesting, when drugs and sex get boring I think I will blow my brains out but then again I agree that too many posts on those subjects would definitely get old. There are some more Czech movies at the archive later this week, perhaps I will czech them out... I'm sorry for that.

btw Cyst my wife gave me a tremendous book for a anniv git. It's called "The Camera I" A look at self portraits by various photographers. True inspiration for me and I have only flipped thru it about 4 times. It was an exhibit of a personal collection of over 130 plates by various photographers once exhibited here in LA. I recommned you hit the library and pick it up, you may find it as fascinating as I do.

we didn't steal any dresses. my friend borrowed one for a party. we said we were journalists, which I guess was true, but I think we somehow deceived them when convincing them that we were important. my czech was the worst of the three of us, so I was least certain of exactly what was going on. I don't think game shows are interesting, but I love hearing about people's experiences on them. I only know of two people (kate and dewey) and three shows (jeopardy, wheel of fortune and some defunct daytime thing), though.
