Take American Beauty's anti-materialist rage, Pi's paranoia, and The Matrix's slick visual style, put em all together, and you get Fight Club. It's the shit, yo.

Saying any more would ruin it. Just go see it :)

By Nate on Monday, October 18, 1999 - 07:46 pm:

it was my recommendation for the group outing, but we went and saw Three Kings instead.

what a ram job. but hey, clinton loved it.

By -skooter on Tuesday, October 19, 1999 - 10:49 am:

Fight club is an amazing movie...-Skooter

By Swine on Tuesday, October 19, 1999 - 12:05 pm:

i don't know if i'll be running to the theaters to drop $9.50 to see that scrawny little pretty boy play "tough guy" anytime soon...

but i think i may go out and pick up the book today.

it's sounding like just what the doctor ordered.

By Agatha on Tuesday, October 19, 1999 - 03:43 pm:

did "three kings" suck, nate? i wanted to go see it but everyone is boohooing it.

By Waffles on Tuesday, October 19, 1999 - 03:46 pm:

i heard it's pretty damn amusing

By Nate on Tuesday, October 19, 1999 - 05:42 pm:

it's ok. it would be a good rental.

the plot is average, and the cimenatography is oliverstone nbk style.

and it is definitely a war movie. it is not as light as its hype might suggest.

By Jenny w on Tuesday, October 26, 1999 - 08:32 pm:

i loved fight club, it was incredibly exciting, it's not what you expect. Saying more would ruin it entirely.

    go see it.

or wait until the video comes out.

or wait till it comes on pay per view or whatever.

but don't let anyone ruin it for you b/c it will not be what you expect at all.

By BLAKESNAKE on Wednesday, May 17, 2000 - 03:51 pm:

This fucking movie blew my mind when everything started to come together. Watch it and see for yourself- any details would spoil the movie so I guess you make the choice on seeing one of the best movies I've ever seen. I'm no movie critic,
but it gets its stars and thumbs in my eyes.

By Kymical on Wednesday, May 17, 2000 - 05:53 pm:

    i saw that flick recently.
wow, so good it gave me nightmares.
and godDAMN! ed norton and brad pitt are hotties in tat film. something about boys fighting...i think it is erotic anyway. but then again i think boys and violence is hot.
like boys starting a fight. if only they would stop there tho. the rest of it is kind of boring. i think that is why i enjoyed fight club. the violence wasn't like all "the solution is to fight for respect." it was good hearted violence. the kind that while it shows the true effects is also meant to be light hearted.
    if that is possible.
i liked a lot of the visuals they did in there as well.
and i was on the edge of my seat in disbelief at the "cigarette burn"

mon ami josh on the other hand was not impressed. but then again he is a hypocrite. he will put the facade of left wing polotics in front of what he does just for his own gain. yeah, fuck that guy.
he said he didn't get into it at all. but it could also be because he was looking too hard into it for some big message or he just thought it was a flashy pretty boy movie.
this movie was hot and if i have a tele and a vcr i would own it. but i don't so i just dream about it.

By semillama on Saturday, June 10, 2000 - 01:24 pm:

    saw it last night.

No one said who goddamn funny the movie is. Incredibly funny. Like the insertion of the porn frame at the very end, all the little things.

I loved the moment when Norton's character realized he was also Tyler Durden. I didn't see that coming at all, and I usually pick up on stuff like that.

By J on Saturday, June 10, 2000 - 02:57 pm:

I thought it looked stupid when it came out, when I finally saw it,WOW!!!Like Sem,I didn,t get the alter-ego thing till it slapped me upside my head.

By Isolde on Saturday, June 10, 2000 - 05:15 pm:

Yeah, although I was sgetting it by the office scene, when he syas: "Somehow this reminded me of all my fights with Tyler..." The porn thing was cute. I didn't remember it from the theatre. And that was no cigarette burn.

By Antigone on Saturday, June 10, 2000 - 05:16 pm:

Funny how one major theme of the movie was how causing pain and bodily mutilation, either to yourself or others, can be an agent for personal change...

By Pug on Sunday, June 11, 2000 - 12:58 am:

Yeah, I got a bang out of "Fight Club"----the very ending (Einsturzende Neubauten!!!!!!) was one of the biggest feel-good moments I've seen in the last year or so. Fuck "Titanic"....

By Cannon7 on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 11:08 am:

One of the best movies I've ever seen...

Brad Pitt is no 'pretty-boy' in this flick, infact he's pretty bloody most of the way through.

Read the book after you see the movie (works better in that sequence)...

By patrick on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 12:36 pm:

i saw this last night, hardly "mindblowing" , but it was alright....the big dick at the end was hilarious and that last scene was fantastic. The sound effects used when they beat the shit outof each other were quite amusing too. the sound of a punch has come a long way.

By Cannon7 on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 07:22 pm:

I think the people who find 'fight club' to be a so-so film are either on the edge or many years past the generation this film is all about.

A generation of father-less sons. That generation is 18-24 right now, if your older or younger than that, you might not get it.

By Dougie on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 07:40 pm:

I'm 37, have a father, and haven't seen it yet. Need I bother, Cannon?

By Cannon7 on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 07:46 pm:

It's worth a shot, violence is the universal form of entertainment as they say (who? dont ask me).

By Dougie on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 07:49 pm:

I thought the universal form of entertainment was midget tossing.

By semillama on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 08:21 pm:

    SILENCE=MIDGET TOSSING.

THE WAGES OF SIN IS MIDGET TOSSING.

THE ONLY THINGS CERTAIN IN LIFE ARE MIDGET TOSSING AND TAXES.

IS THERE LIFE AFTER MIDGET TOSSING?

By J on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 08:43 pm:

    Shouln,t we ask the midgets?

By Dougie on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 08:45 pm:

Fuck 'em. They're just there for the free drinks and wings.

By Isolde on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 09:29 pm:

    I don't talk to midgets.

By J on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 11:07 pm:

I don,t either, but those dwarfs are another story.

By Czarina on Wednesday, June 14, 2000 - 11:45 pm:

I think they prefer to be called "little people".

By Bell_jar on Thursday, June 15, 2000 - 12:22 am:

you're right czarina. i went to a crime victim's right conference in april. i got a little pamphlet telling me the proper names for all sorts of people with handicaps. i could share if you want to be aware. otherwise... i won't.

By Bell_jar on Thursday, June 15, 2000 - 12:23 am:

ha ha. i made a rhyme.

By Cat on Thursday, June 15, 2000 - 12:28 am:

I knew a midget and his nickname was Lofty. If I'd called him a "little person", he would have kicked me in the shins.

By Czarina on Thursday, June 15, 2000 - 12:45 am:

Probably because he couldn't reach your ass.

By droopy on Thursday, June 15, 2000 - 12:49 am:

all this time we've had proper names?

amongst ourselves we just call each other "dude."

By Isolde on Thursday, June 15, 2000 - 01:03 am:

I'm not quite a midget. I was a midget, but then I grew a few inches and passed the five foot mark. People called me short and annoying. But I wasn't one of those three foot tall people. That would be very scary. I think my entire perception of the world would utterly change. Being drunk must be hell.

By J on Thursday, June 15, 2000 - 02:50 am:

I like being drunk, and I like going to the Lee Lee Market because I feel like Godzilla, must be Godzilla.I,m taller than almost all the men,but they help me find the good stuff, they have great treats.Did I ever mention I have 41 inch shoulders and 34 hips? I look like an explanation point. This keyboard sucks.Droopy,or dudette

By patrick on Thursday, June 15, 2000 - 12:33 pm:

i am in that generation you speak of canon, i grew up fatherless, self destruction is not necessarily a part of my life. i like to have sex instead.

the movie preys on that Columbine, teen angst frustration sense enveloped by many teenage boys. How does it feel to be typecasted?......You are now generation Y or has that been coined already.

By Cannon7 on Friday, June 16, 2000 - 03:59 am:

'Sex Club'? I'll start work on the script right away.

By Isolde on Friday, June 16, 2000 - 05:28 am:

"Oh, my God! You fucked me in the ear!"

By semillama on Friday, June 16, 2000 - 08:24 am:

It was coined a long time ago.

Whatever happened to Generation X in the first place? Are we really generatign that fast?

By Isolde on Friday, June 16, 2000 - 02:36 pm:

I know. We've been saying it for months. I didn't realize "Generation Y" had emerged. I thought we were still dealing with generation x...

By Cannon7 on Friday, June 16, 2000 - 03:53 pm:

Isolde: ROFL.. i was thinking along the lines of "i want you to fuck me as hard as you can" or "if this is your first night, you have to fuck."... but you duped me.

By Cannon7 on Friday, June 16, 2000 - 03:55 pm:

Why do we label generations in the first place? Do we really have that much time on our hands? IF so, why the fuck did we start with X, there's only two fucking letters after X.

By Dougie on Friday, June 16, 2000 - 03:58 pm:

X == 10 generations after the founding fathers

By Cannon7 on Friday, June 16, 2000 - 04:29 pm:

    your my hero scholarman!

By S on Friday, October 12, 2001 - 12:53 pm:

Fight Club was the coolest movie. Though I had to watch it twice to fully get it. I like the song that is played at the very end of the movie but it wasn't on the Fight Club soundtrack
