cleaned up negative, remastered surround sound, new voices, new translation. HO LEE SHIT even the menu screen impressed the pants off me, and the extra material would take hours to sort through. And the sweet metal case was a bonus. i wish i was the one who bought it ;( not that i have a dvd player. i think i'm ruined for my old tape copy. You can't even imagine what you're missing until you see this version. baby, i need a cigarette. |
hah example of better translation: Kei is looking for Drew in the abandoned hallway. Before, Kaneda is being whiney and talking about their future together, about how they can date and etc. Drew appears and Kaneda panics, thining that Drew is her boyfriend, and starts explaining that he is Kei's cousin from out of town in for the weekend and please please don't shoot him. This always seemed weird since Kaneda is a steet wise gangmember. Well, this time around Kaneda is saying something like "what's the matter? why are you so scared?because you shot that guy? Oh, i guess you never killed anyone before. It's not so bad. Just go to the police and you wont be in jail too long..." and etc about jail. Drew appears and Kaneda says that he's Kei's boyfriend. This translation made much more sense. He's shown as being a lot tougher in general. |
know such a thing existed. |
I already have the widescreen, special edition, directors cut version of GITS 1. That would be the subtitled version because dubbing is for morons. And it fucks up the story. But that sounds pretty sweet wisper, I'll look into it. |
hahah We watched the dubbed version first so that we could give ultimate concentration to the cleaned up visuals. The colour is INSANE. You can see shit that you didn't even know was there before. The brand names on tires. The bolts on metal panels. It was like someone cleaning a window that you didn't even notice was filthy. Go to www.akira2001.com for a sample. There's a documentary on the making of the soundtrack. There's even an option that translates all the graffiti and signs. waah--haaha--*ghhaaaaagh* and to be prefectly honest, i thought GITS was boring. I've never been able to finish it in one shot, for some reason. |
