Have any of you seen this?

I saw it last night. I had read the book a few years ago and I thought I was well-prepared for what I would see. Wrong. I've never seen such graphic scenes of child sexual abuse. I've been combing the internet for interviews with the actress who played Bone to see how she made those scenes and what preparation she had to go through to beforehand to keep from getting traumatized. Ron Eldard, too.

I couldn't sleep after seeing it last night. I slept less than 3 hours.

I read the book, too. Is it more horrifying and soul-wrenching than the book? Jeezis. I probably shouldn't see it. I couldn't eat/sleep after each of the following movies: the deerhunter, the summer of my german soldier, das boot, the killing fields.

Margret: the book is much more detailed than the movie, of course (and much better), BUT in the movie you have to see things with your own eyes. You see Glen pick Bone up by her head and swing her a few feet in the air before throwing her around the room and smacking her and smothering her with his hand when he rapes her (which they thankfully only show from the waist up) -- the blood may be fake, but all that's real.

It's a good movie, but don't see it if you're sensitive to things like this.

Also, Glen is not a complete monster. Sometimes I felt sorry for him, and sometimes I could understand the way he thought. Like that's not disturbing. Yikes.

I've never read the book but found the movie very disturbing, i myself was wondering how you prepare a young child for such a traumtic part, and how the man must have felt to have had to play the role. Bad thing is this is reality, this type of thing happens everyday as we go along our merry way,....shameful.
