Which, of course, is odd. George Orwell is a Socialist or maybe Humanist. He despised Capitalism, but I still enjoy his cautionary tales of how socialism can go very wrong. I saw the latest adaptation in the live action film on the Hallmark Channel last night. It was really not too bad, except the ending was so far from the book. The thing about socialism is it depends on the honesty and integrity of the Party in power. Free Enterprise or Capatilism does as well to a lesser degree, but there is still a good system of checks and balances incase the executives are corrupt. |
