Guess what? A live-action Peter Pan is being filmed, set to release on Christmas Day, and it looks like it's going to be faithful to the book. And guess what? Jason Isaacs is playing Capt. Hook. Is that not perfect or what?

This is going to be great!

    Here is more information.

Peter Pan was my absolute favorite story when I was a kid, starting from the time my mother first read me the Disney version when I was two.

That looks awesome. I hope they keep it true to the book. I think the kids would love that.

as a kid, we spent several field trips to puppet shows. full on puppetry school by the Atlanta Center for Puppetry Arts. fucking cool place i tell ya. In the theater the the air was clean, cool and the seats were a series of giant carpeted steps rather than chairs. It was dark and I had a few of my first hand-holding experiences there.

Anyway, we say Peter Pan there. It was one of the first times I remember being dazzled by the theater arts.....lights, smoke machines, flying puppets, the soundscapes.

Hmmm...there seems to be another Peter Pan movie ("Neverland") coming out this summer(?), with Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet -- http://www.peterpanfan.com/movienews.htm

Remember that list of new movies that Spunky posted that showed two movies about Helen of Troy? Why do movie studios do that? A few years ago, there were two movies about Christopher Columbus that were released around the same time, too. That's really stupid.

Whoops, it's possibly being released next spring, not this summer.

By eri on Monday, June 23, 2003 - 03:14 pm:

It also looks like Neverland is going to be the story of the man who wrote Peter Pan, vs. the story itself. I think.

    Oh, I didn't read that far. :)

You can catch the first trailer for Peter Pan in front of The Hulk, I think.

By eri on Monday, June 23, 2003 - 11:47 pm:

Haven't gone to see the Hulk yet. The CGI looks lame, so I don't know if I will see it before it goes to the dollar theater.

By semillama on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 - 11:51 am:

The CGI is much better looking up on the big screen. But it's really long, and Bruce Banner doesn't turn into the Hulk until about 45-60 minutes into the movie. It's definitely thought provoking. And there are some suprisingly beautiful and dramatic moments. But that's Ang Lee for you.
