The Net

sorabji.com: Worst movie you ever saw: The Net
By Lucy Phurre on Friday, December 11, 1998 - 03:44 pm:

I watched the Net while babysitting a 10-year old and we both agreed that the protagonist was so stupid that we couldn't identify with her.
We just kept saying, "Somebody please shoot her before she breeds."

It could have raised serious issues about whether or not it is healthy never to meet your peer group.
    It didn't
It could have raised serious issues about the possible dehumanizing effects of living entirely in an electronic universe.
    It didn't.
It could have at least been an entertaining action film with a good techno-thriller look to it.
    It wasn't

    Total waste of time.
Everyone involved in the production should be taken out and shot.

Even me? I only had a minor part. I'm sorry we offended you. Please, can I have another chance? And the gaffer? The gaffer's not so bad. Let the gaffer live. Please?

Is that the one with Sandra Bullock? If so, we rented that awhile ago and I fell asleep after the first 20 minutes. Did not hold my interest in the least. Now 'Sneakers'... there's a great movie. River Phoenix, Robert Redford, Dan Aykroyd, James Earl Jones, Ben Kingsley, Sidney Poitier... awesome. I own it. Hmmmmm, haven't seen 'Hackers' yet, but I have the soundtrack. Anyone seen it and can tell me if it's worth the $3.00 rental charge?

OK, we'll just shoot the writers and the director and have the producer drawn and quartered, and do something really horrible to Sandra Bullock (which should be done anyway.
I agree that Sneakers was brilliant.
Hackers is ok, not as good as Sneakers, but kinda fun in a patronizing prefab counterculture kind of way.
