By Wavydave on Monday, November 1, 1999 - 09:21 pm:

That works out to just over 7.5 hrs/day.
I spend 8 hrs/day in front of a computer at work too.

Anyone want to be my girlfriend?

By Gee on Tuesday, November 2, 1999 - 09:10 am:

8 work hours plus 7.5 recreational hours?

By J on Tuesday, November 2, 1999 - 09:36 am:

At this point, can you even see?

By Nate on Tuesday, November 2, 1999 - 10:06 am:

    your wrists must be huge.

By Rhiannon on Tuesday, November 2, 1999 - 12:02 pm:

Dude, you already have a girlfriend. You just have to give it a name.

By Agatha on Tuesday, November 2, 1999 - 02:09 pm:

heh. that was funny, rhiannon. dave, i have two words for you. go. outside.

By MoonIt on Wednesday, November 3, 1999 - 01:48 am:

    yeah man. thats just scary.

By Margret on Wednesday, November 3, 1999 - 10:28 am:

Cool, Dave, when you turn translucent could you set up a camera and take a picture for the rest of us?
    What's the big deal?
That's my favorite kind of boyfriend.
I sleep with him once a week, when he's pried himself away from his computer game or whatever to shower, and the rest of the time I have someone who has to give me money to buy food because I'm the one doing normal people functional stuff.
Rhiannon, a line from a Varnaline song which reminds me of you (for no reason I can determine, being as how I dunno yah):
"...you were short and easy to laugh..."

By Nate on Wednesday, November 3, 1999 - 11:16 am:

is the weekly sex based on the weekly shower?

By Rhiannon on Wednesday, November 3, 1999 - 12:35 pm:

That's actually quite an accurate description, Margret.

By Wavydave on Wednesday, November 3, 1999 - 05:03 pm:

I blame part of my excessive computer time on the fact that I broke my wrist a couple of months ago and I'm still wearing a @#! brace. So I can't go riding. I did go hiking last weekend.
Girlfriend? In this town?! Pshah! It's 90% mormon and I'm a long-haired heathen.

I am working an angle on a girl, but it's slooooow going.

What's with all the fascination with poor hygene and sex? For the former, I only skip showering during the weekends sometimes.
For the latter: It has been a while, but it's a matter of personal choice.

And no, wrists are normal size, skin is a healthy opaque pink, and there are no weird tumors growning out of my head...

By Gee on Thursday, November 4, 1999 - 03:27 am:

I wish you people would stop calling him Dave. I'm easily confused.

By Valerie on Thursday, November 4, 1999 - 06:28 pm:

I find myself spending hours online to...There's so much to see and do and more people to talk to.I don't think were nerds, just lonely and looking for others who feel the same way.

By Inside-nerd on Monday, November 22, 1999 - 03:12 am:

    The perfect nerd's girlfriend:

    1) There to fuck when needed. (I sense the squints by the women, and the nods by the nerds)

    2) Enjoys a good game of Quake (replace Quake with any popular game)

    3) Doesn't mind watching her boyfriend beat Mario64 for the 50th time over her favorite soap.

    4) Doesn't mind the Lara Croft porn (i am not a fan, btw)

    5) Can type a costant 120wpm w/ eyes shut!

And the thing about showering is only true with the trekkie-nerds. And there are some pretty good looking nerds out there, but they're undercover.

By Patrick on Monday, November 22, 1999 - 05:52 pm:

last i checked, no girl is waiting around for you to fill their hole on demand, unless of course you have cash, i have NEVER met a girl who enjoyed, Quake, Duke, Doom or any of that shit and mario 64 is for pussies...........

however there is a kick ass snowboarding game for n64 and of course 007 Goldeneye rocks......

By Lucy Phurre on Monday, November 22, 1999 - 05:59 pm:

I like sex, Goldeneye, Doom, and Doom II.
    :P

By Patrick on Monday, November 22, 1999 - 06:09 pm:

i stand corrected, im kinda glad my girl doesn't care for these games, we would be fighting for the computer like my brother and I scrapped for the Atari 2600

By Rhiannon on Monday, November 22, 1999 - 06:11 pm:

I liked Doom and Duke Nukem and Wolfenstein 3D, but only with the cheat codes.

I like Hellfire and Diablo, too, but they're not quite the same.

I also liked Myst and the Sim games.

I also like Command and Conquer and games like that, like Warcraft 2 and the Horde.

I also liked Half-life, but I didn't get to play too much of it because my brother got fed up with it and erased it.

I also liked this other game whose name I also forget (but it is a Sierra game) in which you visit this town in the Southwest and have to solve riddles and puzzles to find Indian prayer sticks to save the souls of the townspeople who have disappeared.

But then, I also will play Minesweeper if there's nothing else better around, so....

By cyst on Monday, November 22, 1999 - 11:28 pm:

hey, wavydave, did you email valerie? I think you guys would make a cute couple.

By Wavydave on Tuesday, November 23, 1999 - 12:26 am:

nope - i left this thread for a while...
i've never done the email pen-pal thingy either...

By Wavydave on Tuesday, November 23, 1999 - 12:31 am:

Oh yeah, a good portion of that time was devoted to Ultima Online. I have characters on Baja and Chesapeake.

My gaming tastes are running something like this...
    Quake 3 demo
    Unreal Tourney
    Half-Life (Action and Counterstrike mods)
    Age of Kings

    and...

    hamster pr0n.

By Gee on Tuesday, November 23, 1999 - 12:43 am:

I like Doom. I don't know which one it was that I played though. I just started playing it and I was kinda good at it and I became obsessed with it and then I couldn't get any further and I kept looking all around the little level and I COULDN'T GET ANY FURTHER and it really ticked me off!! My brothers both got further and I was so fed up I just stole their codes and skipped ahead to the next level. I don't care if I didn't do it on my own. I just like seeing what's next.

That's the reason I like watching other people play video games (not sports crap). I like to see what happens next, and my brothers are better players than I am, so I prefer to watch them.

I like playing games that have no Set levels. Where I can just walk around forever and ever doing whatever I want, talking to people and picking things up, and if I can't progress any further I don't have to quit. Like Zelda games. I really like those. I'm so lame.

By heather on Tuesday, November 23, 1999 - 12:49 am:

    i wish i had brothers

By Valerie on Saturday, November 27, 1999 - 11:22 am:

Ok Ok so I made myself sound like a nerds girlfriend....I was just being honest....lol
I do have a life outside of my computer room...but a second life emerges when I turn on the internet.
I can be creative or naughty...be myself or be someone else....tease and learn or be honest with my feelings and then cold as ice.
    And email is always welcome..lol

By cyst on Saturday, November 27, 1999 - 12:30 pm:

last night I was out with a couple of friends, one of whom was more of an acquaintance really. we only see each other in groups, I mean.

I didn't realize that he was a geek too, and he explained how he has an email friendship with some middle-aged married woman in new zealand. she has told him lots about her teenage kids, and one time she let her daughter online to talk to him.

"hi, how are you? I've heard a lot about you," he wrote.

"hi. yeah, my mother's had a lot of time to tell you about me. because ever since she got the computer, she stays online for six hours a day and she never has time for us anym -- oh, sorry about that! she's not normally like that. she's usually very nice!"

he said he felt really bad. I told him not to.

"this girl was a teenager. she couldn't care less whether her mom had time for her. she probably was just pissy because she wanted to use the computer herself and her mom was hogging it all the time."

By heather on Saturday, November 27, 1999 - 09:12 pm:

    yea.
i'm sure her daughter is just mad that her mom is hogging the computer.
    (sarcasm)

but- his feeling really bad would be pointless
