(Prosecutor Vernon Jordan eats port chops) The statement that the moon is made out of green cheese is misleading and unfair. I would like to encourage anyone who is technically minded in electronics communication to consider getting a ham radio licence. YOu can find information at Radio Shack, or they would probably direct people to the right stores. QST and CQ are some magazines at Barnes & Noble relating to ham radio. |

down my shortwave antenna now i'm very sad |
-supported Ollie North -voted against requiring gun manufacturers to have at least % of metal in guns....(as terrorist were creating plastic guns) -pro prayer in school jsut to name a few fuck me |
Acutally, they all suck. The ones that stand a chance of election are assholes. And the ones that are even semi-decent won't last for a second. Ahhh....the joy of american politics. Good thing I dont' vote yet. Oh great. Now I forgot what I wanted to say. |

nader is insane. it doesn't matter who we elect. the president has no power in the US. |
the only thing i am unsure about nadar is his ability to deal with an international crisis, moreover a military threat. Otherwise his domestic policies are ok with me. |
What other reason do you need to vote Green this year? Besides the fact that Cheney opposed sanctions against Apartheid, and letting Mandela out of jail, and the whole hypocrisy of the Republicans re: homosexuals... |
nader is a socialist. socialism has proved to be flawed. it's like trying to keep a nice patch of mud in your yard. water it three times a day, and it will be nice and muddy for awhile. but you'll end up with a patch of weeds. you can't assume the inherent good of the fellow man. nature is evil. |
We definitely aren't a democracy. And I won't argue that we aren't politically fucked. But socialism is a bunch of sheep without a shepherd. And the wolves of the world wear shepherds' clothes, not sheeps'. |
c'mon now. family values my ass. |
"But socialism is a bunch of sheep without a shepherd. And the wolves of the world wear shepherds' clothes, not sheeps'." thats cute nate. sounds like our system, only we knowningly have a cross dressing shepard/wolf. |
socialism is a great idea, but it will never succeed so long as human nature is what it is. speaking of the US dictatorship, though, i was thinking about these reality shows. "Big Brother", etc. where they poll the public to find out which person to ditch. you know they could spin it so that the american people would vote for whoever the network wanted them to. is this a test phase to help them fine tune the media machine? let the execs pick the next president. the tv tells us what to think. |
Everything is focused around the corporate/media culture. Everything. |
I didn't know the Bush/Cheney clan was anti-gay! Assholes! I will KILL my parents if they vote for them. |
But the Republicans really give me the Screaming Fantods. Although it was nice of them to allow all the minorities in their party to get up and give a speech at the convention. |
Even though I know he's likely fibbing, Gore's speechs don't make me quite as nervous as Bush's do. I get the sceraming fantods even now -eyiyiyiyiyi |
Hopefully, though, most of the people saying they'll vote for Nader will get scared enough and actually vote for Gore in the election, suprising the shit out of the Shrub, and fuck him up the ass bit time. I think that's the only thing that could wipe the smirk off his face... |
I'm a SubGenius, thank you very much. Which makes me more sympathetic to the Apostates such as Nader, and in a way, even Buchanan. At least he's honest. Evil, but open about it. I can appreciate the strength of his convictions without agreeing with them. I, of course, am voting "bob" Dobbs for Supreme World Overlord, as I always do. not that he needs to be voted in. |
I laugh at Canada being called socialist! Look at some european socialist countries and spot the differences! FREE education FREE health care (most health care in Canada is free, but not all, not everywhere) good public transportation... of course, compared to the US, we look like communists, but that's a different story all together. Canadians are so centre it's painful... but also good. We have a very high standard of living and enjoy good health and lots of freedom, so I'm not complaining, but really, it makes me laugh when people call us socialists. It would make any real socialist laugh. |
Whatever |
Busloads of Canadians coming across the border for healthcare? Where? While it's true that you sometimes have to wait a long time for elective and/or non-life-threatening surgery... from what I've noticed living in Brooklyn for nearly a year is that it's not that much different here if you're not incredibly wealthy. Even upper-middle class types don't get the "best" care available necessarily. And if you want to look at a good system, then Canada's not the only place to look... Is the US full of people from Denmark and Norway and France too? |

let me try again..... if you beleive in nadar, vote nadar. 4 years ago, the same logic ws applied to keep peeps from voting for the perot and the reform party. now they get $$ from congress as a legitimate party, (however there are two dopes part of the election committee that are keeping Buchanon out of the debates......they are republicans mind you) if nadar/green get enough votes, they could stand to receive congressional $$ next time around. we are fucked either way for the next 4 years, might as well plant a seed for next time around. |
the real issues get ignored. |
That's right. I'm casting my vote for Sorabji.com, Inc. |
You know, quite frankly, access to porn is really not of any interest to me. I know they stop stuff from coming into the country, but like I said, I don't really care - I think that most canadians have access to all the stuff they want. If a few people are not getting all the porn they need, well, there's the internet. The government may seem to be more involved in the average canadian's business, but mostly only where it matters, like health care and all that. There's an unspoken governmental interferance in the US. If you're poor, you don't have access to the same kind of stuff. I don't know whether you've been to Canada or not, but what is striking about the country is most people are middle class. In the US, the disparity is greater. Anyway - your average american pervert can't get his hands on porn either - because he can't afford it. Who is responsible for this? What's more distressing is not being able to access necessities of life, but since you brought up porn, I thought I'd continue that theme. I'm not saying this as a Canadian who doesn't know anything about the US. I live in the US now. I know that not all places in the US are like where I live, but as a general thing, I think what I have to say is valid. In general, life is more comfortable for the average person in Canada. We have a higher standard of living and we have a longer life span. Take it up with the UN if you don't believe me. |
I just sold my soul to the Nader Street Team. Go me. |
Meanwhile I think Nader doedn't accept contributions from either corporations or government officials... |
And we should lighten the taxes on things we do like, like honest labor, like food. It's really interesting. In some places in this country, you go and you pay taxes on food and on books, but you don't pay taxes on what you buy on the Internet. Even though the small businesses in this country are the ones that support the charity and fiber of the community. It's really not fair." Ralph Nader (source: Jim Lehrer) |
That stings. Who's the libretarian party candidate? |
Speaking of which, there are lots of good people (still 300+), some of whom are even good anarchists, being held prisoner for taking part in the protests surrounding the Republican National Convention. Everyone with a conscience or an urge to fight the dictatorship should call, write, email, and otherwise harrass everyone in the Pennsylvania / Philedelphia "justice" system until we get them out. Look out for the exact same thing in L.A. at the Democratic Convention... I find it really funny that the major party conventions just HAPPEN to be in cities with the cruelest, shittiest police forces. </rant> |
but certainly his focus is keeping the government constitutional. gore, bush and nader could give a fuck. and Browne will certainly not lead us by the nose to socalist slaughter. |
Do you really want unregulated corporations running amok across the landscape? I actually don't think we're going to be that bad off if Bush wins. We survived the last 20 years of the Reagan regime, didn't we? |
Now, will voting Nader really make any difference? I don't know. Will the wackos and kooks (including neo-nazis and KKK) start coming out in force now that we are just steps away from our first jewish VP? Remember that Kennedy was a Catholic and that was quite a shit stirrer? It's sad but we still live in a country populated by racist ignorant morons. Any thoughts towards the future? |
He's a huge censor...I really dislike that. All into the anti-movie and game violence and the anti-"bad" lyrics...prolly going to start censoring books next...asshole. |
but really, now did anyone really expect Gore to pick anything but a centrist? Lieberman does not thrill me, and I don't care if he's Jewish or Rastafarian, his addition to the Democratic ticket doesn't make me want to vote democrat. Still a better alternative than Bush/Cheney, but only by a few degrees to the left. |
smash the state! |
i expect public demonstration will be the next to be regulated out of our freedoms. |
I have many gripes about many things....im not really sure what my protest would be concentrated on so.......I don't really have a cause, other than to go take pictures........i believe your right nate, as ther has been much to do here locally about when and where the protesters will gather, much to be infringed on assembly rights, several judges have had to overule the mayor and the police departments wishes...... |
it will all fall down. the rich will hold the power. the poor will get poorer. america will descend into an orgy of romanesque self destruction. which is why i am a libertarian. and a capitalist. when in rome... |
arguing about speech and assembly: this is ridiculous. Do we have the right to stand where we want to stand, and say what we want to say? Absolutely. (well, insofar as "rights" are a collective myth, but the "collective" gives the "myth" some sort of reality?) We HAVE to stand up and make noise to avoid being overlooked and overrun. I don't condone violence, but we're living in a police state already... and here are people saying it's going to get worse? sorry. I'll get off my soapbox, now. What sort of bad factions are you worried about, Nate? The Black Bloc are the good guys... *Anti pauses to cuddle his little anarcho-friends* I haven't been to L.A. in years. This could be fun. |
I'm all over peaceful assembly. I'll be one of the silly hippies, probably. I have huge objections to breaking shit. But I'm looking forward to this...a lot. |

http://www.newtimesla.com/issues/2000-08-10/stewart.html http://www.newtimesla.com/issues/2000-08-03/stewart.html Jill Stewart is sharp as a tack and holds no punches.....she one of the most insightful columnists in LA |
If you do get arrested and hapen to be on camera, please shout "Free Mark Thomas! Free the Sorabji Eight!" |
I almost posted my 5-million page response to Patrick and Jill Stewart's column. Stewart doesn't seem to insightful to me, really. She seems like she's got some stereotypes and some halfthoughts. Like here typecasting of "anarchists." Sure, there are "anarchist" posers, but there are bad seeds in every group. The vast majority of the people I've met who claim to be anarchists are self-educated, respectful people, and we're all poor as dirt and deeply motivated, not thrillseeking rich brats, if that makes Ms. Stewart feel better. Some people believe violence is an acceptable form of protest; but most of the people who say this don't mean that they're just going to go and break stuff; they're going to pick visible (usually corporate) targets, and they're going to fight back against police brutality. It's amazing how some people let themselves get beat on just because the beater is wearing a badge. I'll grant her that the Direct Action Network isn't full of the smartest or most tactful people ever. But then again, is their demand that no chemical warfare be used really that outrageous? On the one hand: the protesters shouldn't get out of hand, shouldn't hurt anyone or break private property; on the other hand, neither should the police: this means both that the protesters should be respectful of the police, and vice versa. both sides need to realize that the other side is full of people, doing something that they believe in. The thing that makes me really angry is people hiding from responsibility behind party lines and "just doing my job." Okay. I'm trying really hard not to explode in a flaming ball of Anti-matter. I really hate politics. *sigh* vive la guerre eternal. |
The girls at work sounded nervous when I told them I was going to protest. They all kind of laughed about it, and when I said--"alright, I'm going, wish me luck," they all kind of tittered and made some joke about the LA prison system. *sigh* Chemical warfare is really not a good thing. Especially when I think that in LA, there's a probability that the protestors are going to peppersprayed at best, nervegassed at worst. That makes me sad. I realize that these are different than massive chemical strikes on some defenseless country, yet...there are parrallels. I'm tense. Excited. I can't wait to see what happens. We're going to try and upload pictures in the evening, so we'll have to give you all a link to see what we're up to. Bleh. viva la revolution. |

a week or so ago i was at a website that had a link to sorabji.com. this place was described (more or less) as "mark a. thomas, a true poet, and his faithful followers." that last part would be us. rejoice. [grin] |
(Where was that website incidentally? I am sure Mr Thomas would like to know for his scrapbook) |
cat - it was edlundart.com. (links) looking back at the site, the "true poet" was in parentheses and he meant mark thomas. but i bet you're the other one. |

i ought to come back here more often what's happened while i was gone? |
which doesn't matter much to me, but apparently when you need use a whole mess of girly shit every morning, it's nice to have a counter. and the vanity has drawers... which is a nice place to put all the girly shit when you're done. the toilet was easy. we built the vanity last night and screwed it to the wall today. that was easy enough. siliconed the vanity top to the vanity. added the new faucet. all easy enough. but then, the outlet. the waste water, the trap deal. leaky. just like the kitchen. took me forever to fix the kitchen sink outlet. taking apart each join and re-sealing. but tonight i have no sealant. nothing to slather on the threads. so my pretty faucet and pretty sink go unused until i can get some. fuckers. always something. i inherited my father's plumbing curse. |
For the above reasons. |
to hell with professionals! |
if only i had a clue what you were talking about. |
i've seen that stuff! my dad was a steamfitter once and so we've never had a plumber come to the house, ever. "why pay to have it done if you can do it yourself" my dad says. 'course, this additude also applies to animals. don't call animal control, just wait for my dad to find his slingshot. |
somehow im not surprised nate, you seem to have a fascination with plumbing, be it human or otherwise. |
I have a cute plumber. Ok, that's a lie. I just wanted to say it. (Say it out-loud. It's fun. "I have a cute plumber") I have a cute plumber. Hah! ok whatever. |
