I leave for nyc on Thursday evening. I'm really not looking as forward to the 36 hour bus ride as I had once been. I have no plans once I get there, but I'm very very excited.

My fear, once I have thoroughly practiced the mug proceedure and have it down to an art, is that I will like the city too much and crave it horribly until I'm able to return next spring.

I am staying with people that I don't know. I just know people who know people who know these people (yep, I meant two people who knows). Of course this isn't set in stone as I have yet to receive confirmations. All will work out, I have faith, with little reason to have it.

Any parting words of advice, warning, or whatever else?

    I don't get it? :-(

By Zephyr on Monday, August 7, 2000 - 05:22 pm:

Never mind. I was dying for an opportunity to stick that picture in here somewhere.

Going to nyc always results in bad stuff in my eyes and mouth. Always avoid flying debreis.

By patrick on Monday, August 7, 2000 - 05:34 pm:

i'll be there saturday, staying at hotel chelsea which i understand is pretty rich with history with notable writers like Burroughs and Twain....we arrive late saturday night, just when things get started. we have good long time friends waiting for us...it will be a nyc latenight........in nyc everything is late night..i learned this last time i was there.

the wife is coming as well for her second interview with the Ltd group as an asst designer for sweaters.....there is a lot of potential riding on this interview, it could change our lives drastically.

i suspect my time there will be hurried and lucid, i do plan to snap some photos......i have business out in jersey on several days as well.

after NYC then im off to Nashville for a day, this will be uneventful I am sure as i am staying at an airport hotel, in fact its not even Nashville, its some fucked up place called LaVergne....whatever, perhaps this will be the night to rent porn in sip whisky and cokes in those plastic cups that come shrinkwrapped.

    I'm jealous. I've never been.

By JusMiceElf on Tuesday, August 8, 2000 - 01:17 am:

I would say stop in at Bluestockings and buy a book, but my sister is off in Michigan doing lights for the Wimminz music festival out there. But you should support Bluestockings anyways. Oh, and don't let anyone squeegee your windshield for you.

By Tired on Tuesday, August 8, 2000 - 03:10 am:

hang out outside NBC, Al Roker shows up at around 5 a.m. and is really friendly.

    kick the pigeons.

you can't trust the cops, unless they're selling you acid, in which case it's prolly legit cos they get to confiscate lots of it.

get some shady-looking pirated CDs from shady-looking CD shops and impress all your friends with the aphex twin remix of devil's haircut.

it's been a while. Maybe I'll go back this winter.

How odd,Heather will be in New York City, this weekend too, some perv is flying her out there to go to some musical. She said when he is at business meetings,he is going to have a driver take her around.Monday they are going to see Conan O'Brien.I don't say anything anymore, cause she just dogs me then, but I sure don't like this.

By patrick on Tuesday, August 8, 2000 - 12:36 pm:

i don't think i can get to Bluestockings, although kathryn was super nice to me when i was doing Alyson Books stuff, (however you should go bell jar) now i just sell gay porn. I will be stopping a Different Light...not to buy books, but to check on things......I may get over to Christopher Street to Oscar Wilde Books....

By JusMiceElf on Wednesday, August 9, 2000 - 11:11 am:

Too bad you won't get there, Patrick, but have a great time in NYC.

Bell, you really should check it out. Bluestockings is a women's bookstore, the only one in the city, and generally just a great place. It's on Allen Street, south of Houston, and might be a good place to stop in if the hustle and bustle gets to you. In addition to selling good books, they make their own chai.

By Zephyr on Wednesday, August 9, 2000 - 03:57 pm:

I'm going to nyc this sunday...im not sure where yet...but let me know if you're going to be there. I might be able to meet up or something.

By patrick on Wednesday, August 9, 2000 - 04:18 pm:

now i find out my whole trip is being canceled. by the powers that be. I guess the wife will still get to go for her interview, hoepfull she will wheel me the fuck outta of this sinking ship. Things took a messed up turn this morning. Shifting the newsstand distro for 6 publications is an amazing task.

    eat me fuck!

By Zephyr on Thursday, August 10, 2000 - 07:04 pm:

Who are the NYC dwellers here? And your emails?

By Zephyr on Thursday, August 10, 2000 - 07:06 pm:

I need a camera by sunday. Off to k-mart...wish me luck in my hunt for a photoblaster!

By Mavis on Thursday, August 10, 2000 - 07:19 pm:

zephyr! try target if kmart doesn;t have it!
    and get 400 speed film!

By Nelly on Thursday, August 10, 2000 - 09:30 pm:

hurried and lucid - good, Patrick.

that's how I remember feeling in NY last summer

actually was pretty wacked out but it FELT lucid...

By Zephyr on Thursday, August 10, 2000 - 09:57 pm:

Thanks SOOO much for the photoblaster info, though...I'm gonna hit the stores saturday!
does the photoblaster take normal pics too? or only the multiple shots? I kinda need both, and the only other camera i have is a REALLY old digital one that my dad gave me from his work.

    Right.

By Mavis on Friday, August 11, 2000 - 11:45 am:

it takes four "normal" shots and prints them on one 4x6 piece of paper.....you can have them enlarged, though....

By Zephyr on Friday, August 11, 2000 - 03:33 pm:

Well...it's still great! I must get it.

On the other hand, know any good relatively inexpensive "regular" cameras?

By Mavis on Saturday, August 12, 2000 - 11:50 pm:

    i only use toy cameras.
plus the really expensive nikon thing i found in the garbage at my work two years ago.
