magic numbers

sorabji.com: The Stalking Post: magic numbers

"At least 377 Palestinians, 13 Israeli Arabs and 71 other Israelis have died since the uprising began in September."

    390 to 71. what's the magic number?

i bet the number is signifigant. some number like 666 only not. something that people will look at and say, "did you know <number> is the year of blah blah blah?" or, "did you know in <number> the first blah blah verb blah blah blah?"

to which most people will reply, "Oh really? What are the odds of that?" or, "My, what a giant coincidence?"

and then the stoners will gather around in candle lit rooms and say "Duuuuuuuude!" and "Sheeit, huh heh heh."

and all hell will break loose in the middle east. and mighty Israel will strike Damascus with a warhead that will irradiate the ground and make it so that even the dogs won't live there for a thousand years.

and then, someday, the grandchildren of my grandchildren's grandchildren will read about this all in thick, boring books. A couple paragraphs, maybe, with all the keywords in bold black. you know, the answers to the questions at the end of the chapter.

i wonder what those kids will think. where the world will be then to give them what perspectives.

maybe they'll be amazed that we could ever treat each other so shitty.

Ever notice how much killing is done in the name of religion? Apparently, religion isn't about love, it's about hate.

It seems so damned hypocritical to me. Does each side of the conflict have a different god that proclaims only they are the chosen ones and those with different beliefs are less than human, thus homicide is justifiable?

Imagine how much better the world would be if we could do away with religion altogether. Unfortunately, zealouts' minds are closed; they are immune to enlightment. Worse, their fervor is handed down to generation after generation of offspring. There is no cure.

    But, I can still hope...

    Imagine

    Performed by John Lennon

    Imagine there's no heaven,
    It's easy if you try,
    No hell below us,
    Above us only sky,
    Imagine all the people
    living for today...

    Imagine there's no countries,
    It isn't hard to do,
Nothing to kill or die for,
    No religion too,
    Imagine all the people
    living life in peace...

    Imagine no possesions,
    I wonder if you can,
No need for greed or hunger,
    A brotherhood of man,
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer,
but I'm not the only one,
I hope some day you'll join us,
And the world will live as one.
