    i just moved several yards of dirt. warm, smelly dirt. with warm, smelly clumps that look like they came out of a warm, smelly ass that is built into a warm smelly horse.

    several yards. i would guess 9. 243 cubic feet? a ton and a half?

    someone, quick.. pat me on the back.

    but gingerly. very gingerly.

    this pasty white, hasn't broke a sweat in six months computer programmer type feels like he's had a tab of acid and the fringes of reality are just starting to slip.

    I'm moving rock today. Small watermelon under fifty pound rock. And caulking the inevitable logs-that-need-caulking.

    I used to really dislike the smell of dirt when I worked with shovel, dumptruck, and backhoe...it was a pervasive smell...I longed for the smell of crisp clean desktops and leather bound books, and clean non calloused hands.

    Then when I got all that, well, I sorta missed the smell of the dirt and the feel of the callous.

    Are we ever happy?
