I've got it. It's in my left lung. Pneumonia.

I got some pillz for it. Zithromax. I think they're working, but it's only the third day.

I also have an inhaler for my asthma that is aggrivated because of it.

I feel so rundown all the time. Hopefully by Friday I'll be all better. Or at least much better.

School is winding down. About a week to go of classes and then finals.

I definatly don't want to be sick for finals. It's such a hassle.

Yea, yea, I know. There are others in much worse condition than I am in. Hospital beds and such. But in my little introverted life, none of that matters.

    Only me.

    No deep breaths for me.

Or I cough. And then my head hurts.

    Aye me.

what exactly is pneumonia? a lung infection? like bronchitus? what does spring or california have to do with it? is it something brought upon by wet moldy conditions?

By semillama on Wednesday, May 8, 2002 - 12:31 pm:

    yes.

By Spider on Wednesday, May 8, 2002 - 12:38 pm:

It can be caused by bacteria or a virus. It can kill you. Even if you're an otherwise healthy young man.

A few years ago, the Philadelpha City Paper ran a piece written by a young man who had caught a cold that developed into pneumonia. Both of his lungs became completely infected, the infection spread to his heart, and he nearly died. (I can't remember what cured him.)

Ian MacKaye caught pneumonia in Australia and had to have his chest cracked open and the fluid/pus scraped out of his lungs.

    It can be nasty.

On the other hand, my uncle had it this winter and was on antibiotics for a while, and got better after a couple of weeks. He didn't even have to be hospitalized.

I think it can depend on how long you have it. Pneumonia can feel like a bad cold that just won't go away and so a lot of people don't go to the doctor for a while. I don't think that Spring in California is any way to prevent it. There are different colds for different seasons all over. My kids just got over being sick. My aunt got pneumonia a lot. That is the biggest reason they were considering doing a heart lung transplant. It is very nasty. It makes bronchitis look like a cakewalk. I feel awful for anyone who gets it.

Jim Henson died of Pneumonia. He didn't
have it treated. What a dumbass.

So I feel much better now.

Still have the cough, but it's much better.

    Pillz are good things.

And I have no clue how I got it.

Maybe it's the terrible dorm conditions.

Someone could have had it and coughed on a desk and you touched it and had a cut on your finger or picked your nose or something. Or the person behind you could have breathed on you. It is very communicable.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

I think I picked my nose.

    That must be it!

    I only lost two pounds.

I think I didn't lose much because my throat didn't hurt.

Pneumonia is only the name for the condition of fluid in the lungs.

As stated elsewhere in this thread it can be caused by either bacteria or a virus.

The cause determins how easy it is to treat.

There is a vacination you can get for the viral form. I've had that shot. But, the only way to treat the bacterial form is through antibiotics once you've got the bug.

By The Watcher on Monday, May 20, 2002 - 06:18 pm:

    I do not have Pneumonia.

I do not know what is making me feel like crap. And, I don't think my doctor knows either. He has upgraded me from a mystery to a challenge.

I have so many simptoms it is hard to say what is bothering me. This has been going on for months. Fortunately and unfortunately every test has come back negative.

To put it bluntly I AM SICK AND TIRED OF BEING SICK AND TIRED!!!
