By semillama on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 - 02:09 pm:

I'm looking forward to Hellboy, The Preacher, and Rendezvous with Rama. Some of the others, though, sound utterly horrible.

I heard that Will Smith is set to star in "I, Robot."

By eri on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 - 02:24 pm:

I didn't even read all of them. Some I look forward to and some, well, whatever.

I totally am going to have to see the new version of "The Stepford Wives" though. It's like a family classic that we make fun of on a regular basis (ok, not the movies but the other women we know who are like that). Joan Cusack....I can see it now.

    Must see that movie!!!!!

The one that I probably will see and will regret seeing is "The Alamo". There are so many bullshit lies about the heroics and the history of the Alamo floating around in our history books, that I bet it will be a bunch of propaganda bullshit, but I will have to watch it to see if it is accurate or not.

By dave. on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 - 03:09 pm:

    FF!!

By Spider on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 - 03:33 pm:

Some of these sound pretty cool.

"I, Robot" directed by the guy who directed "Dark City"? I'll see that.

Some of them have bizarre cast lists. Anthony Hopkins, Alec Baldwin, and....Jennifer Love Hewitt? Kate Winslet, Elijah Wood, and....Jim Carrey?

    "Helldorado"?? BWAHAHAHA!!

By semillama on Tuesday, June 3, 2003 - 04:39 pm:

They didn't even mention that The Rock is remaking "Walking Tall."

By sarah on Monday, February 9, 2004 - 03:09 pm:

we saw mystic river last night. it was a great story. it would have been perfect except the denoument of each story line was a little sloppy. on the other hand, it wasn't overly obvious either, not given too much of a pat hand, which i like.

i had hoped that there would have been more about the relationship between him and his estranged significant other, and wonder if there's more detail about it in the book.

imo all of the acting was superb, except for morpheus, uh, i mean lawrence fishburn, who played his character much too narrowly.

don't go see this movie if you are sensitive to visual material containing abduction, murder, and sexual abuse. after the movie i immediately called my father and told him NOT to go see the movie. "is it that bad?" he asked. no, i said, it was an excellent movie, but it's about someone's daughter getting murdered, blah blah blah. if my dad saw that movie, i'd be getting phone calls from him every hour on the hour for months afterward, he'd be in a flat out panic.

By J on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 02:16 am:

I saw that movie and I'm thinking of reading the book, because what was that all about at the end when Dave and Jimmy's wife gave each other that "look"? Also Sarah do you have Sheila's snail mail? I have a book to pass on to her.I had it,but lost it when I lost my first computer.I just did the math today,I've been smoking the good stuff for 35 years,no wonder I'm so so so.And it is harder for me to function now,I use to blame it on A.D.D.,but now I think it's severe depression and anxiety and maybe the you know.I think Sean Penn deserves an Oscar for this.

By sarah on Tuesday, February 10, 2004 - 10:34 am:

j, that worries me. maybe you should try to slow down a little, take baby steps to ween yourself off. i worry about my roommate smoking so much of da kine too. she does oddly forgetful things all the time, and she is radically moody. i believe if you do smoke too much of it for too long it can cause depression and anxiety, just like drinking too. 35 years is a long time...

i'm pretty sure i do have sheila's snail mail, i'll dig around later today and let you know.

i don't know about "the look" at the end. they were cousins. i think it was about jimmy's wife showing solidarity w/ jimmy rather than with her, basically like saying, my husband only did what he did because of what dave's wife had thought and said to jimmy.

who else is up for best actor this year?

By J on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 10:39 am:

I can't give up the herb,it's what keeps me going:)Johnny Depp,Ben Kingsley,Jude Law,Bill Murray are all up for best actor in a leading role.

By sarah on Thursday, February 12, 2004 - 10:52 am:

Johnny should get it. he's an alien.

By J on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - 01:27 am:

    I'm all down for Sean.

By semillama on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - 09:49 am:

Depp won it at the SAGs last night, it seems.

By kazu on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 - 04:09 pm:

reading some of the comments on imdb on the script for Wes Andersen's new thing

I do not trust these people, but my first reaction when I saw that Andersen was writing with Noah Baumbach was not pleasant. Kicking and Screaming was horrible and not just because I have bad memories of who made me watch it. I remember disliking the movie even when I still liked him.

By J on Monday, March 1, 2004 - 11:22 am:

I just knew Sean would win,he should have got one for Dead Man Walking.
