    Well?

I've been watching this unfold in the pages of the San Francisco Chronicle over the last few days and noted that the caption on yesterday's photo said "Liberian people beg for U.S. troops to save them."

What do y'alls think is going to happen with this?

im really at a loss with this situation.

i just don't know whats best. I think we should do something...what, im unsure. Peacekeepers under a UN mandate would be reasonable.

Im unsure why the US should carry ALL of the weight and I think surrounding nations have committed peace keepers but nothing has been done until the US figures out what the hell we are doing.

i feel bad that every time i read the word "Liberian" it reads in my head as "Librarian". The headlines get funnier as their situation gets worse.....

"Librarian people beg for U.S. troops to save them."

"900 Librarians killed in Civil War"

    ...i'm sorry.

It would be nice to actually see the UN in action.

I like that Bush said he is committed troops but wants to UN to step in, fast, although I didn't agree with his whole speech on it, it was nice to see him supporting/awknowledging the UN. It does seems like a situation that needs peacekeepers to me...

Librarians split joint with UN peacekeepers.

Yesterday Bush sent 2,000 troops into position on a flotilla off the Liberian coast.

Only Thabo Mbeki, the president of South Africa, seems reluctant to endorse US intervention in Liberia.
