By Spider on Thursday, June 12, 2014 - 12:20 pm:

    Happy birthday to me.

Got myself a new car on Memorial Day. :)
Then got myself a punctured tire. :(
But then I got it fixed. :)

Got myself a new apartment. It's in a building that used to be a Catholic school. I will be able to enter/exit through the exterior door labeled "GIRLS." All the units are former classrooms. 4 feet of concrete between me and the apartment beneath me, solid walls between me and my neighbors, neighbors are mostly single professional women age 40+. Architects, lawyers, one FBI agent, two air marshals, a few psychiatrists. Central air, huge windows, brand-new appliances, washer/dryer in-unit, within walking distance to work. In fact, I get to walk to work along my favorite street in town. Move in at the end of June.

    SO HAPPY

By Pepper on Thursday, June 12, 2014 - 08:23 pm:

Uhmm, sounds like it is either the school been closed down all due to bankruptcy, or the diocese being sued for lawsuit, and then had to convert the old school into apartment units in order for them to collect your rent money to settle the compensation for the victims.

I won't live in there for the safety of my sanity.

Not long ago when I was visiting my friends in Milwaukee, where they lived near, they converted the private school into apartment units. Geez, this whole things is getting weirder.

By The Watcher on Friday, June 13, 2014 - 05:23 am:

    Happy Birthday Spider!!!!

I'm sorry you got a flat so soon after buying your new car.

The apartment sounds great for you. Good thick walls and floors between neighbors. And, you can walk to work. When I was working there are many times I wished I could walk to work.

By droopy on Friday, June 13, 2014 - 11:54 pm:

    happy birthday, spider.

    your happiness makes me happy.

    i'm that selfish.

By Spider on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 - 04:47 pm:

But then your happiness makes me happy, so it all evens out in the end. :)

What is the last song you listened to, Droop?

By droopy on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 - 01:33 am:

funny. these days, "songs" to me are things i play
on my ukulele. i listen (i would italicize that if
i could) to instrumental music like jazz or
classical or whatever. though, once i started
using the "shuffle" option on pandora, i hear more
stuff from people ranging from sister rosetta
    tharpe to the velvet underground.

the last song i heard, in my wanderings around
downtown fort worthless, was lone star trio's
rockabilly version of "moving on up" (the
    jeffersons theme).

By Spider on Monday, June 23, 2014 - 01:56 pm:

I was just listening to a Trouble Funk (1970s go-go) live album, which begins with the Andy Griffith Show theme song. TV themes must be a rich-ored mine.

By Pepper on Monday, June 23, 2014 - 03:54 pm:

I remember that show, the same as Gillian's Island.

By droopy on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 - 01:42 am:

back when i was a bass player in a (really lousy)
band, i spent a lot of time picking out tv themes.
a particular favorite of mine was the flintstone's
    theme.

carl stallings, the guy who did all the music for
the old merrie melodies/warner bros cartoons was
    also a favorite.

every so often i'll listen to the local community
radio station where they play eclectic mixes.
things like hardcore punk and then a conway twitty
song. let's say that's one interpretation of
eclectic. i know i like some of it, but i never
    remember it.

By Pepper on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 - 03:04 am:

What about the theme from " Leave it to Beaver"? I liked the theme at the beginning.

By la on Tuesday, June 24, 2014 - 05:03 pm:

I once won a karaoke machine as a door prize at my
dad's company picnic. The demo tape included the
    Flinstones Theme.

I moved into an upper-floor flat (last month) filled
with cats and named The Saucy Pearl. One of my
housemates and I discussed putting up a figurehead
over the stairs this morning. SO HAPPY

By droopy on Thursday, June 26, 2014 - 02:56 am:

    i remember - when i was a kid in the 70s - we used
to do sing-alongs on the bus of advertisement
    jingles.

my baloney has a first name....

i wish i was an oscar mayer weiner....

there was something about frankenmeat that inspired
    catchy tunes.

By Pepper on Saturday, June 28, 2014 - 01:32 pm:

The other night ago, I saw a documentary about a Russian yeti. I am somewhat a little skeptical about the sightings. They called a terror of a monster snowman.
