old acquaintances

almost two years ago i was driving home after having a few drinks. all i remember is that i woke up on the side of the road with flashing lights around me. i had blacked out and driven off the road. it was a deserted stretch of road, so i caused no other damage than ripping up the undercarriage of my car. i wasn't arrested with drunk driving. the policeman treated it like it was some medical problem, poor cripple, and just took me home. my car was too damaged for me to fix, so i turned it over to the garage i had had it towed to - ewell's auto service, popularly known as ewell fuel. i've lived without a car since then, and i like it.

i got a letter from the city. my old car (it was a chevy cavalier...no wonder i don't miss it) got a ticket for being stored on the side of the road. i can only see this as meaning "abandoned". they traced it back to me. i sent the letter back to them with ewell's address.

but it's kind of funny. it's almost like hearing from an old acquaintance you haven't seen in years. it - the car - has probably been shuffled around like a refugee for the past couple of years. poor guy.

relationships with me always end badly.
