Mid Atlantic Earthquake

    That's right we had a very rare earthquake here in the Mid-Atlantic region.

    And, as usual, I slept right through it. My days and nights are really screwed up.

    The reports are that it was a 5.8 or 5.9 quake. You couldn't tell that here. Absolutely no damage. Not even a minor landslide in the piles of stuff that are all over my house. The cats cause more problems than the quake did. But, then I am about 150 miles away from the epicenter. Baltimore City did have some minor damage. There are a lot of old brick houses in the city. Some of these experienced portions of their walls colapsing. No injuries have been reported.

    There have been a few aftershocks reported. But, they were much smaller. We didn't feel a thing with them.

    There's a four-foot crack in the Washington Monument and some of the spires fell off the National Cathedral. But otherwise no significant damage.

    Exactly three days and forty five minutes without power.
