A world without pinball...

sorabji.com: What is your definition of hell?: A world without pinball...
By Rarebit on Tuesday, October 26, 1999 - 10:31 pm:

    "In an official anouncement
released by WMS industries inc, makers of Bally and
Williams pinball games, sent to their
distributors on Monday, October 25, 1999 WMS will
    discontinue their pinball division. Star
Wars episode 1 is their final pinball machine and
production will be stopped November 18.

This is the end of an era, for over 50 years Williams has been making pinball machines and
the Bally name has been in the buisness even longer.
Williams were the makers of such
arcade classics as Gorgar, Black Knight, Pin*Bot, Fun House, The Addams Family,
Twilight Zone, and Attack From Mars to name a few.
Their video game and slot machine
departments will continue operations as normal."

    Bummer.

What?!? How can they do that?
    It's just wrong.
I love pinball... and my favorite gothclub in DC used to have a pinball machine that I would use to check my level of inebriation.
Best damn field sobriety test out there (I don't drive anyway but I do like to know how drunk I am)
